Time for a new clutch.... again....

My clutch was slipping for a few hundred miles (not severely) but I didn't think it would go as fast as it did. I was downshifting from 6th to 4th @ 60 MPH and all of a sudden I heard a pop and then grinding.

Now, when the car idles it sounds like a metal on metal sound. I can still shift and it can still accelerate (had to take it off the street into my driveway, only 15 feet) but I'm not sure what is causing the noise/grinding sounds on if it's the plates on the clutch or what.

The bottom line is I have to get a new clutch. I've already gone through 2 Stock clutches including the TSB for our clutch.

Does anyone know/have suggestions on what clutches work well with our cars? And what Stage should I be looking at? I want it to be good for DD if I need to but also something that will hold the torgue. I've checked out SU and PG with what they offer (SPEC and ACT) and $750 seems a bit steep for a Stage 2.

Any suggestions?!

i doubt you are any where near maxing out your stock clutch with those mods when there are other running way more than on their stock clutch. how many miles do you even have on your car?

i doubt your making near 350hp. im running 20psi of boost and im not going to be near 350hp.

ha with the K04 I doubt there is anyone that is even cracking 320hp. even people who have bigger turbos and are running 350hp are fine. superskater on the other forum just put down 392hp and is still running the stock clutch, he said it slips every once and a while but it still takes a beating. if you are going through clutches like you are I'd either question the people are installing them correctly or I'd question your driving.

I have 48k miles on my car and have been running 18+ psi and have been fully bolted minus turbo and exhaust manifold for over 20k of those miles and my clutch holds like it was brand new.

i could see over 320.
but that would require water meth, a super agressive tune, and some sort of GOD LIKE INTERCOOLER!!! lol.

Have you tried adjusting the pedal? Mine used to slip alot then I learned how the adjustment works.. Helped alot..

I'm not saying I have over 350+. I said I don't think ours is rated for that and that's what I'm shooting for here soon so I don't want to get another stock replacement.

You are correct with saying I'm at about 300 or a little over.

My car has 52k miles on it and the clutch had less than 20k all highway.

And I have already adjusted the pedal but the clutch is already gone.

I was looking for other options besides SU, PG, Stock. Not how much my HP/TQ my car has.

SU and PG don't make clutches, they sell SPEC or ACT. Honestly if you know how to drive I think the stock clutch is perfectly fine at 350hp. Biggest thing is replacing the flywheel as the stock flywheel is very expensive since its a dual mass.

Yes. I know they do not MAKE the clutches but provide us with SPEC and ACT.
I just said I was looking for some other alternatives besides what SU and PG provide.

And yes, the stock clutch is fine but I don't know why mine has gone out twice now.
I purchase the car with 22k miles on it and the clutch went out 2k miles later and was replaced under TSB/Warranty.
That clutch then went out 5k miles later and replaced under warranty.
Now I'm at 53k miles and the clutch needs to be replaced again.
Mind you I DO NOT drop the clutch and I always rev match. I'm not sure what this car's issue is.

Act 6 puck sprung hub will be my next clutch. Have herd horror stories about spec's customer service and this is why I wouldn't deal with then ever.

Their are a couple out now. Eagle Motorsport for OEM replacement and Clutchmasters for aftermarket set up just a heads up
