Ticket from illegal drags....

Well it happeneded luckly the cop was half way nice...
Basically i was doing my routine weekend hangout at the illegal races when a chp rolls by some how he decides to pass hell of cars and corner in my group of cars... so i start following them to go around the cops however when they pulled out there clubs and started threatening to bash windshields then i decided it was time to stop and take my chances with smooth talking the CHP the younger cop was on a power trip and outta no where comes up to me starts yealling for me to throw my keys out my window so i did just that... he gave me the bulls*** talk about how me just sitting out here is a mistamenor and he can take me to jail blah blah blah..... so now there fun part they check for illegal mods... luckly i have nothing sept no front licence plate... i talked to the officer very nicely and the older one showed the same respect back so he decided to wave the huge ass spectator ticket and just give me a citation for the licence plate..... now another interesting thing i found is its illegal to have CAI in your cars? the officer gave every one tickets for that sept mine cause i havent gotten one yet... is this true.. i find it kinda wierd. So in the end i guess i made it out ok with only a $10 fixit for my front plate not being there.. better then the smart asses who tried to flex there mucsles back at the cops and got spec tickets.

mp3_559, you showed very mature judgment there.....way to go! in all my years of dealing with "the man"....I have found it ALWAYS best to do exactly what you did....you really can't go wrong...especially in the event that THEY step across the line.....

ya have to look at it this way.....over all....I respect the job those men and women do....everyday they leave home and go to work not knowing what they may face, life and death is a very real possibility for them, not to many of us can say that....and if you had any idea what they get paid to do that...you might be surprised that there is a single cop on the road....its something done out of the love of it. Just like being a teacher....I would like to hope that EVERYONE out there that ever gets stopped for whatever reason shows those men and women the respect that over all they all deserve......oh sure....there are some out there that may not deserve it.....but all in all they do. Just try to keep that in mind at all times.

These still leaves my questions though.. are CAIs illegeal in california the CHP said they where and my friend got a ticket for it on his xtreme yet when he looked on the CAI box said it was legal in cali... hmmmmm anyone know?

Well put Sir Nuke..........its true though, lots of people become police officers for the wrong reasons.

As for the CAI. Take that ticket to court! If they are carb certified and have the exemption number take that to court and they will have to throw the ticket out.

Believe it or not most police officers are tottaly ignorant tothings like this. Yes some CAI are not technically legall so Mr.Joe Blow cop assumes all are illegal. But the sweet beauty of it is when you show up to court and win!

now another interesting thing i found is its illegal to have CAI in your cars?

It's illegal b/c you are tampering with emissions on a vehicle and that is a big NO NO. However, the question remains: "if it's illegal, then why do vendors sell CAIs?". Many vendors have the words "Off-road use only" printed on their invoices. This relieves them of any liability issues.

Anyways, look in any highway traffic act and you'll see that tampering with emissions on a car is illegal.

well, you dont have a cai, so u dont have to fight that...however cali is notorious for emissions, and inspections..good luck, and tell the chp, "ponch says hi!"hahahahahaha

Some CAI are legal!
You are not tampering with emmisions if it is CARB exempt. Trust me I am very knowledgeable in this and I am a police officer. I am very famaliar with the law regarding emmision controls

Well problem is Cali is one of the hardest states to mod a car in even though its one of the biggest areas to do it in and most companies are from here which i think is wierd... however cals emissions are a pain in the ass i was scrolling through the book and it says nothing straight out about CAIs however it does mention s*** about some of the parts you need to leave in the car like the air box :/

In CA it is illegal to put any performance mod on your car without also displaying the CARB exemption sticker under the hood every mod that is CARB exempt shoudl come with one of these. I knwo my HKS filter did and I have it placed under my hood as NC is going to sniffer tests in teh coming years. Just make sure you have that CARB sticker displayed and they can't do anything about it you jsut have to point to that sticker or number ID and you are clear. My buddy had that problem with the Greddy turbo on his civic when he moved to cali but he had that sticker on there pointed to it to the cops and EPA and they were like "well ok its there in writing your good to go"

In Cali, almost any mod is illegal. At least in some form. Like lowering your car. Your headlights have to be a certain distance above the ground. If you lower your car in Cali, you need to have the front bumper modded to keep the headlights at that level. No one actually does that but it is a law that you can get a ticket for if they are in a bad mood that day.

Ben thats pretty much the norm in every state. So is neon under body and in the car. Also most altezza lights are illegal if not approved by the natl saftey highy admn. And so are all the windshield wiper nozzel rice lights. Hell carbon fiber hoods are not even 100% legal in all states:mad:
