Thumper 0-110 run

BTW any particular reason why you seem to be shifting pretty slow? Turbo is loosing speed betweens shifts and has to spool back up before you really start moving again.

Shift quicker and you could drastically lessen that delay, and greatly improve how fast that speedo rises :) Unless of course there is a reason for taking your time (protecting the tranny).

wait, you aren't running a D/P at all dude? def was moving decent but i say, you need at least a DP or boost spikes might be visiting you, and also up top it seemed to want to slow down a bit, maybe im wrong just curious...

I think he meant open turbo on the intake side... no filter or pipes... cause he has a blow through MAF

this should dramatically increase the volume of the turbo.

excuse my ignorance but what exactly is a blow through maf ?

awesome video by the way. i'll be doing some of those too in a few weeks

where the MAF is on the pressure side, between the IC and the throttle body

and atleast I think his setup is like this currently

in that case makes more sense, but you should at least toss a filter on the compressor, so you don't suck up a bird or something...

wouldn't lack of a DP enhance the response of the WG?

How would it make spikes?

Is is an internal/external wg?

Not doubting...just curious as to the "why"

Because the turbo would spool faster than the wastegate could react. It happens with quick spooling turbos more than with large laggy turbos.

with this size of a turbo and that much boost, you'd see alot more pictures of missing kids on milk cartons if you don't put a filter

but yea, question about the open turbo .... isnt it dangerous for the turbo ? i heard that a single drop of water could bend something while the turbo is spinning ?

also, how does the warm air from under the hood affect things ? or does it get enough air coming through the radiator to run properly ? if there are no real cons, i'll take off my intake piping too :)

I'd be very leary about running without a filter. Just put an Apex'i filter right on the turbo. Safe and great flow. Of course $$$...

wow, i stir up a lot of posts.
