Throwing Codes: 2177/2187 PLEASE HELP ASAP!!

Ok avfer 50 km of driving 2177/2187 are back. :( other codes are dissapeared witch is a good news :) so i had a failing hpfp.

Now i need to get the codes off. I'm looked for a leak before the turbo and i'm now poisitive that there is no leak there. I also leak tested the rest and it seem that there is no leak there too.

My next step is to clean the maf. Then back to the stealership if i get the codes again.

I'm having the same problem with codes 2177/2187. Inital dealership said it was the MS3CAI was causing it. They told me to go back to the stock box for 325.00. Really? Got a second opinion from another dealership, this time a mazdaspeed shop. They dianosed it with the purge valve soloniod (80.00) and the 02 A/F sensor (180.00). 260.00 in parts and 265.00 in labor after a 100.00 diagnostic test. For a total bill of 645.00, uh no thanks. Purge valve was replace under warranty in 07. I suspect it's my A/F sensor that I will replace and save mega bucks from parts and labor. funny thing is my cars symptoms is very similar to yours. Except I have no problems with boost. I range between 15-20. The CEL was on for about 3,000 miles now its off. I still plan of replacing the O2 A/F sensor though here soon.

Check the wiring in the engine compartment, one of the hose clamps on my SRI had worn through the insulation on the engine harness causing it to ground out and I got the same 2187 code.

I luckily did not damage my wideband o2 sensor when I did my downpipe install, HOWEVER, I did have the chugging/stalling/crappy idle after a fillup and code p2187 and it WAS my purge valve that had gone bad, since then fillups are problem free and i have no issues with idle or stalling after getting gas. If you think it could be your purge valve and you aren't having issues during normal driving conditions like the OP was, chances are it is your purge valve, get one and replace it yourself, it's not too hard.

Not trying to hijack, but what do you guys suggest as best device for pulling codes?
I have a CEL this morning and I'm completely stock.

whats ur mod? how many miles on the car?and do u have air straighner?

I have a twm short shifter, MS3CAI, forge motorsports recirc valve and a prosport electric boost gauge. It's a 07 with about 39,250k. And honestly, I heard of an air straightener. However, completely clueless of what it is or its purpose.

The first gen Mazdaspeed CAI was just tubing with a MAF housing and a filter. It was later discovered that the design of this CAI causes some turbulence at the MAF sensor which can cause a lean condition in some instances. This can throw codes and worse case scenario, cause zoom zoom boom. The solution is an air straightener which mounts in the front of the MAF housing. It straightens the air right in front of the sensor, providing laminar flow and much more accurate measurement by the sensor. The stock MAF housing built into the stock air intake box has one molded into it. You can buy an air straightener and it slips right into the front of the MAF on your Mazdaspeed CAI. All new Mazdaspeed and AFR ( exact same unit ) CAI have this straightener included. These days, almost all other aftermarket CAI and SRIs come with a straightener either permanently mounted into the MAF housing or as an insert piece.

thanks for the info. where can iget a straightener and how much does it cost?

Search for AEM Mass Air Flow Straightener.
Many places sell them.
One in particular who is not a vendor so I cannot put up a link is an online outfit called Street Unit AKA "SU" on this forum.
Not aware of any vendors on this forum who sell the AEM straightener. Remember the AEM intake is the same as the Mazdaspeed and AEM is OEM for this intake.

Yeah kind of a no brainer there but was asking more about having my own device rather than asking Auto Zone to pull them.
There's an Auto Zone at the end of my street. Not even 3/4 of a mile away from me.

Dash hawk is pretty pricey for me. Not sure what else would work and cost less for this purpose. Haven't shopped a code reader lately.

picked up the air straightener. it's amazing....no more lean out condition or CEL for now. Just disappointed that the dealership or Mazda didn't provide a solution. Thanks to this forum I saved more than 600 bones for a 7 dollar piece of plastic. Funny thing is it cost 10 bones to ship it.

Now you see why forums such as this are great resources for information. You save over $500 and fix the problem yourself in 15 minutes.
As far as I'm concerned, even if the dealer knew the problem was a missing air straightener, they would never have said so, and you probably had a 50/50 chance of them installing one in the course of their $600 service to correct your issue. More than likely they would have recommended reinstalling the OEM Airbox and tried to sell one to you for like $800 if you didn't have it.
A dealer needs to make a lot of money to cover service department overhead.

As for Mazda USA, I would guess the only solutions they will even talk about are OEM components, not aftermarket. Even if their name is on the part.

Glad the straightener seems to have fixed your problem.

I can't thank you enuff Wuff. Sad but true, Mazda could of easily said "hey lets try this air straightener!" Instead they say "hey its your MS CAI throwing the code...go back to the stock box for 350 bones ....or hey it's the o2 sensor or the purge valve...hey we can pretend to fix it for 600 bones" Overhead or no overhead so unethical. Thanks for the vent. I still may contact Mazda to complain about it because it's a great car regardless.

This code had bothering me a very long time, I founded out it was the pure solenoid value $80 fixed from
Russle mazde!!!
