Throttle Body

I saw a thread a while back for throttle bodies and noticed that some people thought that the stock TB on the MP5 was plenty big. My question is what is plenty big? Has anyone bored it out that can comment on results?

Is there a bigger TB that will give noticable increase? Not too mention if there is an aftermarket TB is the gain worth the $$$ most TB's go for, ($200-$500) for other cars and trucks?

Just asking because I notice a TB i'm considering for my wifes Expedition that claims 8-10hp gain but I realize that is a huge engine.

so of course I wanted to know about our cars and thought I'd ask the question again.

i'm pretty sure no one makes a larger throttle body...you can contact chedesign, a user who had a good NA motor built up, about TB's. i'm not sure if he bored his or not.

for the fs-de's a larger TB isn't gonna yield a high gain, if any. even if you could get one, it'd be worthless w/o building the engine too...spend the money elsewhere...

TB

I coned and optimized mine. Better throttle response and maybe a little more mid to high end hp.
I coned the inner bore. Knife edged the front lip and the throttle plate, cut off the top half of the throttle bracket that holds the plate, and countersunk the screws and used flat top screws instead of the round ones. I like the results and it was FREE!!:D

hey

from what i can work out off rough guesstimates, the stock throttle body can handle 2mm of boring...maybe worth it, maybe not. tuners here in australia say boring a TB less than 2mm is a waste of time, bigger than 2mm is worth it, but right on 2mm is your choice. if you want that little bit extra do it, but it'll cost you.

from problems i had with my old civic, i'd strongly suggest getting the butterfly plate cnc machined, rather than making one yourself or another plate off another throttle body the same diam.
