thought i'd say hi

you'll find 110kw no problem (apx 110hp at the wheels) - cold air intake and full exhaust will get you there in a heart beat....then you need to play a bit more (ie cams)

what brand of extracters do you use and if you dont mind me asking how much do they cost by the way what would be a good price and brand for me for a cold air intake system including piping

i have AWR headers - www.awrracing.com . they arent cheap, but are widely considered by far the best for the protege's

cai - injen. have a look in the authorised vendor for sale section. there is usually a sale on them from time to time, but make sure you get it shipped via USPS air mail as it's cheap and quick.

I got a set of headers installed today. Brand is Wildcat. Cost me $395 installed and it sounds and feels alot different. Definitely better acceleration. Dont dyno anything so just use my senses to try and gauge a bit if it changed

you have your own desert moite

sounds very promising dave!!
i installed foggies in mine, set of narva, whatever the hell size... cost me $90 and work brilliantly, and in my second line of work, i use them a lot!!!

as to the exhaust stuff, basically your looking at the piping sizes... increasing the size will make it easier for the car to accelerate, also making the intake piping wider, and longer will give the car more fresh air... getting the engine breathing easier is almost like free mods!! in a way anyway... my cat back cost me $240... this was in mild steel, stainless will offer you freer flow, and also ensure the exhaust lasts longer than the car!!! (no rust etc!)

as andy said mods won't void your warranty, unless directly related... ie you change the cams, they **** up, you now have the associated costs on your head... if your squeamish about any of the mods, get the parts, and have a mechanic install them. also have a lookie around the board, as there are a lot of how to's for various things, from installing stereo components, to removing bumpers (usefull for installing fog lights!) and cam work....

and if you get a chance go to a brisbane meet... andy has one hell of a car, and is truly wicked to see fanging around the streets of GC!! i shall join soonish hopefully!!!

i'd jump at the chance to see what you guys have done to your car in person.. but would feel a bit out of place in a stock 323.. plus i wouldn't be able to keep up :P

i thinks they actually went on a cruise today?
i'm not too sure, and there is no need to feel out of place, as you still have the maz....
its about the zoom zoom, not the mods

yeah we had a small cruise yesterday. and dave done worry about having a stock car. there was a completely stock mazda 2 there and 2 very minor modded astina's there. anyway, it's all about having fun and meeting new friends.

oh, can't believe i missed it.. would have been cool to actually meet you guys and your cars :)

where did you head off too? hopefully not too far.. petrol is 98.9c per litre.. :P

*ok end of rant*

$240?? is that the whole setup? and did that include the install??
i've been seeing most people quoting $1000 for a 2" cat back system..

am i getting something mixed up here? cause $240 sounds a lot more appealing than $1k

hehe, its all dependant on what you get

you can get a full exhaust 2.25-2.50 including headers, in stainless steel for a grand, with a high flow cat... you just have to search

i'm pretty sure mine was 240, i paid 440 all up, coz my cat was rooted.. they are expensive buggers....

my docket says 440 but no mention of what was what.... ring up carline anyone really, tell them what you want, they will fix you up no prob, but do a bit of ringing before you go to the first place.. i had a few guys wanted to charge me 700 (incl cat)

mazda wanted 1100 but mazda are pricey biatches

btw just got this in now
if you wnat a power upgrade, have a look at this
Extractors for sale... slightly used...

sorry to dig up an old thread but i finally got a reply from a place I emailed near me

"cat back systems in 2" using Luke mufflers can be done for $220.00 fitted" <- that's basically the email i got. I'm assuming Luke should be Lukey..

is that a good deal? Why do most people seem to say $1000 for a setup? Is this not everything, or just crap quality gear?

Just not sure why most people say a 2 inch cat back = $1000 and others say a 2 inch cat back can be done for $220..

little help?
