Those with big feet need not apply to a Rondo

I have read a lot of post about the Kia Rondo vs Mazda 5. Most post are biased toward whatever vehicle the poster owns.

I flew to Detroit yesterday for a day trip to visit the North American International Autoshow. While walking around I stopped by and checked out the Rondo. It was a nice vehicle. I felt the interior felt and looked cheaper than the 5 (there is my bias).

One thing that really surprised me was the lack of foot room in the Rondo. I wear size 14 shoes and have no problem in my 5 (I have an automatic). In the Rondo my left foot had no where to rest. The 5 has a true dead pedal. The Rondo foot area is smaller and the left foot area has a huge obstruction where the dead pedal would go.

Below is a shot of my feet in the Rondo. The seat is all the way back. My foot is wedged down there at an angle. Not comfy.

So for anyone comparing the Rondo to the 5....those with big feet need not apply.

Plus the thing looks hideous and moves like a brick... never driven a 5 but at least it looks better! I did get a Rondo as a rental while the Speed 6 was in the shop once, it was the second worst car I've ever had to drive (first was a PT cruiser).

Damn, I am 11 size only but I was really thinking about applying to one (lol2)

Related complain I've read for the Mazda5 is that the pedals are too close to each other. I only notice that issue when I use my tire-sole-style sandals though :)

I don't think there's much foot-room in MZ5 since HVAC is under the center dash.

Frequently, I drive with left ledge of right shoe rubbing against the brake pedal.

Heh, you guys must have never driven something like my friend's Z or even the MS3 before. Every time my good friend let's me drive his 08 350z (he's one of the only people i'll let drive my car too) I have to pop on my Pumas lol.

Not quite sure why all the Kia hate in this forum?

I mean Chrysler cars aren't fairing much better in terms of quality and drive-ability.

Simple:

  • Because this is a Mazda forum
  • Because Chrysler does not have a comparable vehicle to the Mazda5 (please don't give SUV/CUV comparos because is not the case)
  • Because it is fun to compare
  • Find a Rondo forum, the Mazda5 gets bashed too (looks like a pimped car, it is a minivan, its engine is too poor, no v6, blah blah)

i wear a size 11 or 12, and i have tight room in my 5

the gas pedal is too close to the center consol, and the brake is too close to the gas. i actually had to buy different shoes, that arent as wide. i should take a picture, but im looking into different pedals.

Ever driven a kia? i'm not talking about the late model ones either, the newer models and some older models, they ******* suck. handling is s***, power is s***, interior is s*** and even the maintenance turns out to be s***.

it's a bad car.(blarf)

Still not sure if that answers the question...
- This is a Mazda forum.. (of course it is)
- Chrysler does not have a comparable vehicle... so why does that matter?
- because it is fun to compare - Compare Yes.... bashing is just immature
- Rondo forum does the same thing - Yes, and that is immature too.

The poster's observation is actually a good and helpful point...but bashing Kia or the Ronda for no reason is just too much like 3rd grade.

I actually test drove the Rondo more than the Mazda 5. I found it to be a very competent car. It was certainly less expensive. Ultimately the sliding doors made me decide on the Mazda5

If it is so bad how come most objective reviewers give the Rondo generally decent reviews?

Tell us how you REALLY feel. LOL!(fight)

i dont know if i could ever have a kia emblem on the front of my car

and sliding doors ftw!

they surprise most people, cause the car is too small to have sliding doors.

  • If somebody feels offended by having bashing (more than just negative) comments about the Kia Rondo in a Mazda5 forum section, I suggest you to ignore the posts, do not further reply hoping to win the argument, as that is also immature

  • I think all points have been made and the message has been successfully received, so this thread is closed
