those with AP- federal or cali

i bought my car new in PA. the AP identified the car as cali model. i guess the is just for emissions purposes? kinda makes me wonder what a federal car has that is different.

I have a cali spec in Jersey.

My guess is the cali spec is tuned for 91 and the others are for 93.

But i could be wrong.

Cali models have more strict emissions requirements. Someone said that NY and NJ comply with cali requirements, that's the reason for our cars being cali spec'd.

Yes, depends on your state. I bought my car in Oregon, close to CA border and found out I have a CA emissions car when I loaded the AP up. First glance at the screen, "California car" had my stomach in knots but, "Oh well"

in CA we only have 91octane at the pumps, so the car is probably tuned to run on 91 to keep it the engine efficient and emissions compliant.

i know the cars come from japan through california, because i remember waiting for it to come to port, then make it's way over here. my car was destined from day one to go about as far from california as possible- PA/NJ.

well some states have the same federal emissions laws, and the cali car falls into that catagory. Rather than have individual models for each state, you guys have the cali models.

I just checked mine. Prop the hood and look at the little rectangular sticker on the hood. It is on the drivers side nearer the firewall. Mine clearly states it is fedral. CA emmisions says NA
