Those still waiting in Canada

Hey guys, I was just talking with the regional Mazda Rep for western canada, and he has been somewhat reliable in the past. If you are waiting for an Orange MSP, they don't figure that they will have them all out until April of this year...there is no real delay they are just saying that it is going to be a very slow release...whatever that means...

Also those waiting for the yellow and titanium, you will have until August before they start to leave port...

Weird, I asked him why? I mean they are all just sitting there, and basically said that it was corporate decision and not to shoot the messanger...since he has been pretty straight forward with me in the past and I have my car :D I let him off the hook...

Apparently some of the orange ones have been at port for over 8 months, and as you can tell from the last pictures that I posted there are still a few dozen sitting there that haven't even been finished yet...

Sorry guys, but the wait continues for you and a few of my friends...the only good news is that if you want one they are available as lots of people have been cancelling due to the wait...they have one left at my dealer that they have had 3 different deposits on...
 
Jesus, how far up their a$$ is Mazda's head, anyway? I can't wait until August to get a titanium 2003.5! Which will be a 2004 by then. They are still going to be selling the titanium and yellow ones when the Mazda3 comes out for crying out loud!
Sorry digi, I'm not shooting the messenger, I'm just ticked off.
I guess I have just decided to get the orange 2003. There is no way my current car will last until August. May I could swallow, but not late summer.

I can only tell you what they tell me, but like I said my Mazda Contacts are pretty reliable most of the time...They did me my car..but they are way behind and the mazdaspeed is sort of secondary to them right now, because of the M6...
 
So will the U.S. get their 2003.5's before us, because the 6 has been out for months there and its not a priority to get it out to dealers like it is (with the 6) in Canada?

This makes me wonder about what will happen in the US. Maybe there is a possibility that I will be able to still buy a black mica MSP when my lease is up. I think my order of preference goes Black Mica, Titanium Grey, Spicy Orange, Yellow.

It would be kinda risky for me getting an MSP and having to wait for it to come in, because with a leased car when I turn it in I need a new car to drive right then... ah well... the saga continues huh Grimace. :)
 
Well, I'm am starting to get very impatient, and ticked off. Does Mazda have no respect for the poor people (like me) who have been waiting for months for their MSP. People have deposits on these cars that have been sitting in Port for up to 8 months!! Sounds like they just don't give a damn :mad:
 
8 months is too long for a car to be sitting outside in the sun, hardly moved, and with no wax on them. Not to mention the poor tires and getting flat spots. Looks like the grey ones will be sitting there just as long.

Maybe I won't get a speed afterall.
 
I have a good source at Mazda as well. I'll see if I can get in touch with them and verify this as well. This isn't the 1st time I've heard a hint of this.

If it's true. Mazda's Mazdaspeed franchise is doomed already. Might as well start selling Mazdaspeed hats and shirts rather then REAL mods while their at it.

Indeed it does.

And the point that Newf brought up is more salient than my rant above. Why is Mazda having these cars sit in port for so long? It would be one thing to come out and say "The next wave of Mazdaspeeds isn't available until late summer and you can't buy one until then" and not produce any until, say, May or June. But what is the point of making the whole lot of them to rot out in some parking lot somewhere? Tires, batteries and paint, fluids, a plethora of things don't age very well with the cars just sitting there. Interiors get baked in the sun. Dashes age prematurely. Well, you can see what I'm getting at.
Its ridiculous to have the cars ready for buyers, and not release them, no matter what the thinking behind it is. If you don't want to sell them until August, don't make them in January.
 
Maybe they want to make sure you can actually drive it off the lot with the stock wheels ?, they maybe do not want the liability of someone who knows nothing driving off the lot with the stock tires in the snow...I am sure they will get blamed for that...maybe that is why it was a " corporate " decision. If we think about it why would Mazda want to have $$$$ tied up on cars sitting on the ports unless they figure a potential law suit is worth more than the interest on the money.

On the 2003.5 they probably have to fit in with the finishers production schedule and since they had so many issues with the 2003 the schedule is FUBAR and they get what they get. The port is not Mazda's port and they wait in line like everyone else...besides the 6's and RX 8's are coming and make more splash that 250 2003's and 500 2003.5's.

Not that I work for mazda ...I like you have been waiting for months...close to a year.

As for flat spots on the tires, my dealer said if the tires have flat spots they will replace them under warranty no problem. The cars on the port have protective plastic on the parts most exposed to the sun. Now I agree that the wait is not good on the rest of the car....inspect it carefully on delivery for signs, then get it replaced.

Almost plausible, except that they let plenty of 2003's drive off from December to now on the stock tires and rims.
 
True...I wonder how many people bitched about having to buy snows for a new car.....if people bitched loud enough you never know...

At the end of the day only Mazda knows...
 
this sounds a bit silly to me. It's not Mazda's fault an owner is too dumb to realize that people need to put Winter tires on in the Winter. If you use this logic, then even if you buy the car in the summer, and drove it around all year, then hit snow, and had an accident you could blame Mazda still.

It's Canada. We get snow. You don't see Porsche, Vette's, BMW, Benz's etc etc not getting sold because of "legal worries" due to snow.


I have one legit worry though. If the Silver/yellow ones don't even get started until August. We are looking at 2 months of assembly for 750 cars. I get snow here in Oct. Same situation as this year, again next year. If that is the case. I'll just keep the MP3. Ain't nottin wrong with an mp3. And I'll hold out and see if there's a Mazdspeed 3.

btw: I took the for sale signs off of car today. She's still for sale, but if the cars are that late....that's 7 months away yet!
 
Guess what My dealer found some in ontario just sitting on the dealers lot, Hopefully I will get one, makes me excited
