I'm posting this simply as a notice of attention to those of you who have the Cork Sport exhaust on your Proteges, and I plan on posting this in the MSP forum as well, or if a mod can copy it over that would be great.

I bought my CS exhaust as a Christmas present this year (I knew it was coming). First of all, didn't get it until mid January because I had to wait for them to finish the production run of it. When I got it, they forgot to send instructions and new manifold studs to attach it to the J-pipe, so I was sent out to the hardware store to buy some grade 8 bolts to use. Now granted, I called them and talked with them and they QUICKLY sent me replacements.

Then, about the end of April, I started noticing a funny hissing noise from under the car. After looking underneath, I found that the resonator bend is beginning to crack after only 4 1/2 months on my car. I called CS again and told them what happened, and I was told I would be sent a replacement piece ASAP. I later found out that the production run wouldn't be done again until May 16. Well, that day has come and gone, and once again they called and said I had to wait until May 26-28 (not 100% sure of the date). Well turns out that now, the production won't be done for another month.I guess now I'm supposed to find someone who can weld it together to band-aid it until the new piece is shipped, and they will reimburse me.Needless to say I'm quite displeased.

Now I wrote this thread just to address the situation. For those of you with the CS system, go under the car and check the pipes. If anything is starting to oxidize, call them IMMEDIATELY. The whole point of this is to make sure that you don't settle for a mediocre product. I love the sound of this exhaust, and it fits my car great, but its just a pain in the ass to constantly have to wonder what might go next.

Attached are the pictures of what has cracked on my system, i would recommend looking near the middle of the car, on the frontmost piece of pipe for anything that appears out of place.

Also, he made no reference in his post that he contacted CS & had issues w/ their customer service......

I recently put my cs exhaust on about 2 months ago. I too heard the same exhaust hissing noise. my resonator also was cracked and i jus had it welded back together. The bracket that connects the J pipe was also almost half cracked. My muffler shop welded in a flex tube so it wouldn't crack from the engine torqueing. Cost me a hundred bucks but definately worth it. The guy said if it would've broke that bracket that it would've eventually started cracking the turbo. I plan on calling cs tomorrow to see if i can get some kind of reimbursent!

how tight were your spring bolts? all the way down? they should be tight but the pipe should still move.

Thats the flex pipe built in like mazda has it.

I still havent got mine welded yet, but I will check up the by the J pipe to see if its starting to crack there as well. Sorry if it has been addressed before, I did search and found nothing. Sue me if theres a problem but I think it needed addressing. I find it funny that it takes 2 months for an exhaust to come in. Just my thoughts on the situation.

They had quite a few GB going on that time of the year which explains that

I am curious as to how we would provide customer service on a faulty part if a customer does not contact us.
I believe FKmitsu is the only one in this thread that I have dealt with and I am trying to make sure he is taken care of.
The new exhaust has a flex pipe at the front and a resonator that is not over polished so as to weaken the welds.

I was wondering the same thing......

Hey fkmitsu, whats the status of your pipe? Was a new piece sent to you, or are you still waiting as I am. I failed to mention that my father, who actually ordered the exhaust for me as a Christmas gift, has been in contact with Corksport. I originally sent them an e-mail, but they did not recognize my name.

yep, no need to get worked up about it. CS is a great company that has brought some great products @ affordable prices. They're not a place that can pump out product like say Greddy etc so w/ r&d s*** happens. They used a crappy resonator & have corrected the prob & that is the important part. I'm willing to wait for the updated part as I can understand that s*** happens. Love the exhaust though....although I forget what it sounds like w/ out the leak LOL :)

I had the same problem with mine too.. After about a month the whole thing fell off when I was going down a dirt road to my friends house, what a kick in the pants that was! (shocked) I had to tie the damn thing up with coat hangers! About a month after that I went to a local exhaust shop and got flex-pipe put in and a magnaflow muffler where the resonator was, now i love it even more, it's still kind of loud but really throaty!

Ok mine is starting to give up at the J pipe Im pretty sure its started to crack so by getting ahold of CS they will send the nec. parts needed to fis the prob at no charge
correct?

hm, it sounds like anyone who got in on the GB is going to have problems with it, can i just send in my pipe right now and get the replacment? i haven't even installed the exhaust but like i've exlpained before, i dont plan on doing it any time soon and i'd rather not deal with it down the road when it becomes a lesser issue to CS, not to mention i'd rather not put the labor into installing the exhaust the whole time knowing that i'll just have to pull it all back off when it breaks...

and i'd just like to throw in that i've dealt with CS a lot in the past and present, and have never had any problems with them (thumb)...
