first off let me say that i hate all religions not just christianity. however, christianity seems to be the most ignorant one out there so thats my focus. read this article:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/02/21/funeral.motorcyclists.ap/index.html

now christians of all sorts should be held responsible for not policing this s*** within their own religion. if people are going to act like this in the name of god then we should just do away with the whole lot. im the biggest anti-war guy on here and i would never think about celebrating the death of an american solider. anybody understand where im comming from?

I aggree witht he above statement... but this article does not support that claim.. what it says is that if you use the name of god you can get away with anything.... what it shows is a obviously finite group of indivifual morons who are a lil warped... every religon has these bafoons... i.e. 9/11.... any system of education that preaches dominace/or supiority of thier "god" of any kind is wrong

that's like saying we should hold all atheists and agnostics responsible for each other and the ignorant comments they'll make and actions that they will do. come on, you're smarter than that.

just like everything else, there will be extremes. extreme christians, extreme muslims....

why do you imply these individuals are ignorant?

i didn't. everyone makes ignorant comments and does stupid things, athiests included. christians, jews, buddhists, muslims, everyone.

whatever happened to personal responsibility. not all christians are crazy, not all muslims are terrorists, and not all athiests are ignorant. i am not liable for george bush saying he invaded iraq because god told him to as much as you are liable for me saying that all baptists are confederate flag waving nascar fans.

I would seriously put a bullet, or at least whop the s*** outta someone (gotta remember my own kids) for EVER and I mean EVER disrespecting a fallen soldier or thier family. We had 3 Marines die recently from Pa and I might be on the Funeral detail locally. I see these people, its on like a light switch.

I think we can agree on this, the Patriot Guard Riders are ******* awesome.

Rev. Phelps is a ******* hypocrite.

Yup....I agree 100%...I posted this a little while before this thread was posted ("people like this sicken me"), where I came to the conclusion that the Patriot Guard Riders are great, and Phelps and his inbred family are lower than flies on s***.

wow once again this country ceases to amaze me. why would states be allowed to outlaw peaceful protests. (headshake yes keep peoples voices down

Peaceful? Are you out of your mind? They are jeering and protesting at a funeral. It's not even about supression of their right to be douchebags. They can do that all they want, but the fact remains they are doing it at a military funeral. The fact that you even read that article and all you had to offer up was "wow I can't believe we are denying them rights" is what amazes me. Have some ******* ethics man. Show some respect for those who gave their life for you, REGARDLESS of your view on why. Moreover, the fact that they are total hypocrites apparenetly is lost on you. Protesting that America harbors homosexuals and still living in the country makes sense...right? I think the sign up for the KKK is down three rooms on the right.

How would you like it if you had a son who died over in Iraq, and at his funeral, people were protesting and jeering saying how he deserved to die for fighting for a country that harbors gays? That they are glad that he died, and that it was divine intervention?

Free speech is one thing....but what they are doing is SERIOUSLY ****** up. I can't even fathom how anyone can read that article and even BEGIN to think about that group's right to free speech. Reading about what they are doing almost makes me physically sick. Even though I personally do not support the war in Iraq....I still support the troops. The least they could get is a proper funeral and burial, without some inbred racist pieces of s*** "expressing their freedom of speech" nearby, thanking God for killing the soldier who died to protect their right to stand there and say what they are saying.

Good point.

So since you hate all religions, jsgolfer, I'll assume you're an atheist. So you were responsible for the killings of the Unabomber, and the Oklahoma City bombing?

So no, JS, I don't understand where you're coming from. Should we hold our entire military reserves responsible for the prison abuses? If one gets convicted, should they all have go to jail?

What you said is the most broad, unqualified stereotype I've ever heard and it's difficult to comprehend that you actually believe it.

Also, the way this forum has been floating lately, I EXPECT this thread to be closed/deleted/s*** on very soon. I mean, when you're crushing free speech, you have to do it fairly, right?

It will only be closed/deleted/dumpstered if an uncontrollable flamewar breaks out. Right now it's just simply a heated discussion.

.
2 things. 1) I only skimmed through it and thought it was the other way around. Didn't really feel like reading too much cause I just got home from an exam, so I missunderstood it. Will probably read it more in depth tomorrow. 2) Hell no I wouldn't like it but guess what, It's free speech. As long as it is not disturbing the peace or they aren't starting or doing anything violent. Not everything one likes is always going to happen. People are different. We need to accept this and not make it so that we go about deeling with this in violent ways such as humans have been doing fo ages.

once again, I apologize, I just skimmed through it due to the exam and my brain is a little dicombobulated(sp?). Thought I read it the other way around. Simple as that.

edit: but my beleif to a PEACEFUL protest still stands
