Hey guys, The SP20's, imported from Japan to New Zealand, are becoming more and more popular here. Most of the the models range from 1998 - 2002. I have just scored a 99 SP20 which has just arrived from Japan. There is something strange about their veh insurance laws that makes it expensive to own a veh over a certain age (I think 4-5 years). This gives us Kiwis very cheap and very nice wagons with very low milage. Mine has just done 32 000km!
Out of the 20 odd SP20's i looked at before scoring mine, all bar 2 were tiptronic (sportshift) and only one was awd. Mine came with alot of mazdaspeed extras (catback sports exhaust, 17" alloys, badges and even a Carbon fibre rear view mirror!!) Alot of them are also coming over with a strange kind of earthing kit in them. It is 8-10 earthing wires all over the bonnet? Mine also came with that doubledin screen as per the pics but the gps and nav system is useless in NZ and unless you can read Japanese most of the onscreen instructions are a tad hard to understand! Also no rca outputs either so i ditched it straight away.
The Mazda SP23 (Mazda3 2.3lt version) has just arrived and is starting to take off.
