thinking of selling my MS6.

I'm thinking of selling my MS6. I went today to the Nissan Dealer and they offer me a new 2008 Nismo 350Z for $28K OTD. I'm thinking jumping on it. Now my car has a few things on it, AE replica grill, Megan Racing springs and Cobb AP. If I do get it I would like to sell all this item as one package for $500. If I decided what to do and you would be interested on this items, keep an eye out for a F/S add. Now, should I jump on the deal for the 350Z? This would be my second one BTW.

Your mods will sell easy.

Now about selling your car. I wouldn't trade it for a 350z. It may seem like a decent deal but nissans just trying to get rid of the old ones. With the new 370's not many people will be buying the older ones. 350 not much faster and you lose space / practicality of the speed 6. Thats just my bias opinion becuz i love my speed 6.

Thanks for the outside perspective.

so basically higher payment for about the same performance, lower quality interior and less room.

BTW the dealer I was at, was having a hard time selling anything. Nissan just too back a few 370Z from them because they were not moving. I like the 350Z over the 370Z anyways. I do have a Titan if I need the room though.

What's the purpose of your MS6? Is it a daily driver, family car, or just a toy for you?

I like the 350s, but hate the Nismo one. I think if I was going to get one, I'd get a loaded out base model 350 and add the Nismo/aftermarket parts once you get it. As coyfish said, you'll get similar performance, rwd (which is a blast), but at the cost of the interior and some room. I would also imagine that your insurance would be a bit higher with the 350 vs. the MS6.

Either way, you'll have a solid car. Keep us posted on what you decide.

On the insurance part is weird. I used to pay less insurance for my 04 350Z than my MS6.

The reason why I got the MS6 was because my wife was going to take a job that required me to pick the kids up from school. She didn't take the job after all. The MS6 is my daily driver right now. I also like the idea of the car being almost paid for. I only pay $140 a month for the car. If I get the Nissan, I be looking at a $550+. I can afford it but it will take some of my fun money. Thats the one of things holding me back. I sold my 04 350Z because I hated the quality of the interior, but the car was a blast to drive. Not saying the MS6 isn't though. I like having a turbo.

Then just as I was typing this my wife reminded me of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Another car that I'm interested on and for the price of the turbo model, I might just wait and check that out before I make my mind.

I sat in the Genesis coupe at the auto show last week, and all I can say is...WOW...that car is junk! Maybe I'm just spoiled though.

Have you thought about which road you might take if you keep the MS6? Plans for future mods, etc.?

I wanted to go with a Corksport FMIC kit and TBE then add a tubular manifold with external wg and a GT2871 turbo. The limitations of our fueling system has me worried though. So if I keep it was looking into a way to add regular fuel injectors on a secondary fuel rail and a find a way to control them.

rims would be next on my list, which is more than a headache that simple shopping.

Not really want to get rid of it, just saw an opportunity for something with a bit more aftermarket support. I would like to get decent # out of the MS6 and so far from what I have read, I can't make upwards of 350 whp with the MS6.

Is your MS6 paid off yet or no? If it is, go for it. If it's not, I wouldn't. But if money isn't a problem, it's up to you.

The 350Z does have a lot of aftermarket support. You can get all kinds of body kits, suspension, and bolt-ons to make all kinds of power depending if you want to stay N/A or turbo/supercharged. The MS6 does have it's limits though. Fully bolted with stock turbo and tune would probably only get you around 325whp. GT28 or GT30 probably around 350-400whp but you'll probably want to build the motor.

I owe about $5k for my car.

Well I still fighting with the dealer to give me at least KBB for my car. I got the price of the car down to $28k from $41k. Now I want $17K for mine. They are offering $13K. I told them not to call me till the numbers are right. I don't see this going down at all. I know they are almost desperate to sell a car though. Nissan is taking cars away from them because they are not selling.

Yeah your going to lose a lot of money if you make that deal. 350z's are also pretty expensive to make fast. There is only so much you can do with it before you have to drop a turbo in there.

It depends on your goals really. For the money you will lose in that deal you could build your motor, fully bolt on, and drop a better turbo in your speed. With that and a proper tune you should be around 350 which is fast especially in an AWD car.

If you want speed . . . nothing can beat an evo in the same price range. As we all know there is no trouble modding those :).

I though about the EVO. I like them but not sure just think they are overpriced. As experience had shown me before, never buy anything when in doubt. Regret gets expensive. So I'm going to keep the 6 knowing I like the car. Thanks for the advice.

Not looking for big numbers, just enough to make the car fun and surprise a few people ;).

Glad you're still part of the team.

I know where I want to take this car, and I'm pretty sure I know what I want next after this (2011+ Mustang GT with the 5.0) but for now, I'm gonna have fun with this car. I've yet to find something that really gets my attention like this car does.

I drove a nismo 350z the other day, I though our clutches were complicated. you have only 2 choices with the nismo 350z clutch, spin tires or stall. Good racing clutch, yet bad for daily driving.

Meh. I'd rather take the 350z. This car has not much potential without spending tons to rebuild and such. So many random engines blowing up. I like the Z's interior better.. even though its sorta cheaper.. And I like their shifter! so much better than the MS6.. smoother ride.. atleast for when I was driving the first time (tells how bad our clutch is). Why not a legacy gt?! They now have the same mods as 08/09(? not sure which,) wrx mods so they are cheap and amazing! Potential right there. (also. .dibs on that $500 deal... omg I really want/need a cobb ap and that grill! PLEASE PM ME!)

Like I stated before, I had a 04 350Z. It is a BLAST to drive. I give you that. But the car requires some money to get decent hp number too. You have to build the engine in order to run more that 8 PSI add fuel management and custom fuel system then you be looking $12-$15k to do it right. I HATED the interior(one reason I got rid of it).

My wife is talking about letting me get a fun/project car. I'm thinking getting another FD and keeping the MS6 as a DD or trade the MS6 and get an Elise. I'm leaning towards the FD since I'm pretty familiar with them.

Yea id go with the fd and keep the ms6, the fd rx7 is my dream machine, always wanted one but could never snag one for a good price. ive had 3 second gen rx-7 and love rotarys there always gonna be my number one engine and car and i love the way they ride high reving and tons of potental. first car i ever worked on. now i have a fc turbo im looking to rebuild and still trying to figure out where i wanna go with it. thinking 20b pp turbo or keep the 13bt and bridgeporting it with a hks t51 spl turbo. the ms6 is a car i think you dont see everyday i traded my 07 wrx for one just because the wrx was as common as honda civics and wanted to go back to mazda. just take your time and dont rush and youll make the choice thats right for you
