Thinking about trading my MSP for a more reliable Mazda3

So good news and bad news.

Good news: Is that one of the wires on the coilpack plug was loose so we just had to readjust it, put auto glue that way it will stay in place and the car worked fine.

Bad news: There's a oil leak on the head, at least thats what it looks like. I dont know if theres a small hole or crack on the head. I changed the head gasket around a few months ago so im assuming its not that. We put some oil dye into the oil so we can see where exactly its leaking from. Hopefully itll show in a few days.

i feel for you with MSP issues, but i cant say i have had the same experience. ive owned mine since 2006. i dogged it when i was younger too, did everything you arent supposed to. 15000 miles without an oil change kind of thing. my car needs a couple solenoids for the variable intake system (common issue). ive replaced charge pipes, the manifold and a valve cover gasket. done a few sway bar bushings as well. overall my msp has not cost me a lot and i have had mine longer than most. i constantly debate on whether or not to keep it, or whether or not i should put money into it. its beat up at this point and i see little reason to invest money in parts so ill just keep driving it until it dies most likely. good luck and i hope everything works out.

as long as the body is clean, the guts are cheap...

True. I checked out the Mazda6 yesterday and the owner even said that I had a nice car and asked why I want to trade it. I told him it was too high maintenance but he didnt want to do it because it was stick and his was automatic. Plus his Mazda6 felt like it lagged when I accelerated it. It had power 160hp I believe since it was the Mazda6 i. But something just didnt feel right. But he's right. I think I might actually stick it through. Even my girlfriend agrees surprisingly since I already know the car, the in's, the out's the flaws, the strengths. Getting another car I would have to start all over getting to know the car (sometimes the hard way) i.e. repairs, etc.

very true -_-. lol. Looks like ima keep her for awhile. Gonna meet up with ZealousTheEnder today and dig deeper into this oil leak/with a possible photoshoot

I hate to be the b**** here.... but if your not that into the car, sell it to someone who will be. No one is gonna trade you for anything unless its older.
Or buy another car that is reliable and fix the msp on the side.

I say keep it...it's nice having a rare car sucks getting parts for it though. Just pray your LSD doesn't break though

meh. if you can turn wrenches yourself, lsd is only $800. i dont think this is a car for appartment dwellers with no shop space though lol.

and thats exactly my description Valk. lol. dont my wrong, I love this car but when issues come up and the car keeps breaking down on me. My love and my interest slowly diminish but nonetheless as of right now my car is running very smooth just with that slight oil leak and exhaust leak so the love is coming back. lol. Im gonna keep it guys.

Just sucks when it happens to you in a busy intersection like it did to me. The 800 is a little high for a car that's worth about 3.5-6k max but it's tough to complain when my LSD lasted 118k. It is a PIA if you've only done minor tranny work in the past.

It's hard living this MSP life sometimes. lol. You plan on fixing it?

Just got it fixed and put in some AWR mounts also. Ended up ripping the driver side axle seal trying to get the tranny back in finally decided to remove the pass side axle so I wouldn't mess up another. Seems to be running good now.
