Thinking about selling... ;-(

Well, I am looking at buying a house and I need some extra cash. I decided that $400/mo for a car is not going to help me right now. I am trying to decide what to do, though. I was looking at a '98 Eclipse GSX for a great price, and possibly an Integra Type-R. I want a car that will have great potential for modding since I will have a garage soon!

I would like to hear some opinions on cars that would be good to look for. I want something that I can find under $10,000 used. I'm not looking for a mint-condition gem, just something that has no nody rust and a strong engine. I am rather partial to AWD or RWD, and turbo is a major plus!

I took my Speed out for a drive tonight hunting for used cars, but I ended up hitting the twisties. MAN I WANT TO KEEP IT! Anyone want to donate monthly towards my car payment? Ha. (I'm really crying on the inside):'(

Yea bud, you can always donate it to me..I'll trade you my DX straight up! Lots of potential!. haha seriously though. GSX's are great, Type-R's alright I suppose.. You can always look at older RX7's/Supras/300ZX's, or you can just get an SC300 and do the soarer conversion...lots of fun bud!

Ha! I wish I could find an late-gen RX-7/Supra/300ZX for a decent price around here. You would think I could, living in Motown and all. I'm surprised they don't throw veggies and/or American flags at me here.

AWD really appeals to me right now since it will help in the winter and I don't want to have separate summer/winter cars. The GSX is looking pretty good... I dream of an MSP converted to AWD...

AAARRRRGGGHHH! That's it. I'm going into work tomorrow with a 9mm and a three-piece suit and demanding a raise!

They're rare, but I used to have a '91 240sx with the "hicas" system. It's an acronym for something, but basically, it's a rear-wheel drive in which the rear wheels actually turn slightly in the opposite direction of the front wheels to facilitate better handling. And man, did it! Nothing like the MSP, but better than I had ever owned until then. I paid 10k in 1995, so I imagine if you could find one now it would be well under that. It was a great car, and got great mileage. Insurance was cheap. I believe the factory rated hp was around 145-150. Anyhow, good luck with your search, and sorry you have to give up your new car.

how much did you buy your car for to be paying $400/mo? I bought mine for $16000 and pay only $250/mo

Get a 94-97 Impreza AWD and drop an EJ20 in it from a WRX. If you do the whole engine and computer, the car will even be smog legal in CA. Once you get the certificate, MOD the hell out of it.

I have a 93 Impreza AWD that's about to get a 2.2L Turbo engine from an older Legacy Turbo. With engine management I can get a reliable 250hp out of it.

if the current car payment is too much for you, how do you plan on selling your speed? i havent seen ONE person on this forum try to sell their speed for a reasonable price YET.

nah not the old s13s...get the s14. yeah its kinda rare to find but once u get one and do the engine swap, u can up the boost and get a good 230whp from stock internals and stock turbo. can someone say lets go drifting?

I put nothing down and got it for $20,500 out-the-door, which was decent since I got it back in April when they first came to Michigan.

There is no way to get an MSP for $3500 under the dealer cost. They would be paying $3500 out of their pockets for every car they sold.

i guess i need to try to find the ad advertising them for 15995 in the paper, or you could do a search on the forum and find out for yourself.

I think you should look at a 1998-2001 Impreza 2.5RS Same engine as the STi, minus the turbo. But then you still have a great AWD platform to build on. You can swap a WRX engine into it or just tubo it and make your own GC8 STi <--- Gets my vote. The 4 door sedans made in 2001 also come with an LSD. You should look into the 2.5RS. The coupes also get their styling ques from the 22b
