Thinking about getting the Eclipse CD-8443 head unit

What do you guys think about this head unit? How will it sound on the stock speakers?

the fact is eclipse is one of the best. they just are not fancy.. i like the display of sony's a lot.

Where are you getting it from? have been debating about getting an eclipse headunit it's just a pain in the ass finding a place that has them, and then finding the right model. There is one model above the 8443, but the only differences are that the better model does not have a built in amp and adds a 16v preout. I think if I ever actually have the money for it, and don't have somthing else I want more I'll be getting the 8443.

I'll be getting it from a place called Tweeter around my place. They have all the Eclipse head units and an Eclipse Titanium sub. They're pretty good at installing stuff so atleast I know they're trust worthy.

point of advice. the stock p5 speakers are paper junk.. toss them.. get your head unit.. get some components in the front and 2 ways in the back and your all good. -=)

8443 is one of the best sound quality decks on the market. You'll be more than suprised.

Eclipse is awesome...I had a 8441. Best HU I have ever owned. If I get another aftermarket HU it'll be Eclipse.

I wish I could tell you but we have never gotten one in.
Very depressing. Eclipse seems to be having some issues meeting demands this year, and dealers are dropping them for it.

Good units for SQ but have never had my faith for reliability. To many problems for to long even though most have been worked out.

Keep in mind you don't just get 16 volts. You actualy just get 8 unless you run there balanced system (requires more hardware).

I figured as much, that's why I would just get the unit below there top of the line headunit. I love eclipse because it seems like not a lot of people have them, most people opt for the more mainstream if you will companies like alpine and kenwood. I don't know I just always try to be somwhat different, if you can even call getting an eclipse headunit as being different, it's just getting harder and harder to.

If you want to be different you could get a Jensen or Dual HU.

But seriously...Eclipse makes some great amps (dunno about their HUs). If the HUs' amplifier sections are anywhere like my 4 channel, then they'll be extremely clean and transparent. Very nice for a system that sounds artificially warm, becasue it'll make the highs and mids ring through, but still keep the mid-bass.
