Thinking about buying an old miata: What should I know?

Hey guys, Im thinking about buying an older miata to turn into an HPDE car. Do you guys have any recommendations on what I should look for when I start my search.

Depends, how much are you planning to modify?

I'd say starting from scratch, the 94-95 would be best. Bigger engine, light weight, no OBD-2...
