These came in my mud flap kit - what are they?

I bought these mud flaps and the package came with the mud flaps, screws, and another piece. It looks like a spacer or clip of some sort.

Does anyone know what they are, and also what do I do with them? The product page and website offer no info about them.

For the Mazda-brand mud flaps, here are the instruction guides for them.

Those small silvery parts in question are the "clip nuts" and they wrap around the edge of the fender and splash guard parts, to strengthen the area that the screw will attach to.
