Theft-Deterrent Security System on GT Speed3's and Not on Sport Models

Thats a poor excuse for an alarm, sounds like it basically goes off when an electric current is pulled while activated. Someone can smash your windows and help themselves to what ever is inside and you wont hear a thing providing they dont open the door. I would be pissed if this was a reason i bought a GT.

Sounds like the mystery is solved, but here's what I've heard...

Pretty much the alar... I mean theft deterrent system will go off if the doors are locked and any door is opened (including the hatch, don't know about the hood).

So apparently a burglar could break the window, climb in, and drive the car away without the alarm going off.

On a side note: I accidentally pressed the panic button a couple nights ago
I put the key in the ignition to stop it, but it didn't
I turned the key to ACC or ON (not sure if there's 2 positions or not), it didn't turn off
I started the car, it didn't turn off

I was forced to press the unlock button to deactivate it, despite what the manual says.

If you bought a car because of it's theft deterent system you have a problem.

This won't work on the 2008 Sport & GT's (don't know about the 2007's) without an original 'chipped' key... 'cause they also have an oem engine immobilizer system installed... can't drive the car away by hot-wiring or pulling the keylock...

i think your avatar is immobilizing....for a sec, then I'd react! lol

I think what he meant was, he could have gotten the Sport model instead and have an aftermarket alarm installed....

It appears that one can get a more effective alarm elsewhere than by going with the factory one.

The Anti-Theft deterrant system is better than nothing until you can get something better. Since its offered with the GT, I'll take it, but everyone knows, there is almost always something better in the aftermarket side of the house.

iv read somewhere the GT's myself included in that the alarm is not some factory POS it is a real alarm system integrated into the system like a viper sys. the blinking red light is the imobalizer key thing that dosnt let car runn for longer then a couple secnds if you dont have the key with the right transister in it. and with the sport you could have gotten the same alarm as we have if you would have asked for it from the dealer my friend has a regular 3 with the alarm. ow yeha the hood is included in the alarm function.

Hood/Trunk/Doors, and just looking at it will set the alarm off... ok, maybe not looking at it, but you get the idea.

On another note: It'd have been nice to get a 2-way transmitter/reciever with the GT system similar to that of the viper/clifford alarm system if that were the case..lol

I have a Sport model,

Left the window open and locked the car..opened the door from the outside, nothing...(dark)
