the "what mod next?" thread

i figured a bunch of people have this question and it would be good to have them all in one thread instead of cluttering the forums.

ME FIRST!
Alright,

My current mods are:
Cobb SRI
TRZ derlin Mount

Goal: ALLLL power

Budget: 500-600$

What do i do next? I was about to get an mbc but decided against it becuase it would be pointless when i purchase the AP once its realeased. Basically, im looking to get the most power out of my car with spending the least amount of money but still doing it right and with quality parts. DP, Fuel Pump?

since ur all power...get a downpipe, ecu, or intercooler....they are all withing that range of budget

edit- i think fuel pump is best after you get the intercooler, downpipe etc

Once the funds are available (might be a while), I've got an upgrade path I want to take.

Cobb SRI
Corkspork mount inserts
CDFP upgrade
Cobb short shifter
18x8 wheels w/ 235 of 245 /40-18 tires
Bilstein shocks (and maybe Cobb or MS springs)
Protege Garage Turbo manifold
some sort of Downpipe
PNP engine management

That aught to do.

well the next should be an oll change. But im saving up for cobb's AP. which will be nice.

Cpe turboback exhaust

i did say that im not implying im putting it off so i can buy the AP that would be relly messed up if I did. yeah i have 5,000 on mobil one low hours high molage i drove 2,000 miles for thanksgiving had to show friends and famlie the new car.

I figured that instead of making a new thread, i would just search for other mod threads and post there (here). I just picked up the Cobb SRI and installed it on friday night.

First off, this is my first actual mod for my speed3. there are 2 very noticeable differences.

sound
and
power (mj)

especially in the upper rpm ranges, the car pulls far stronger than it did stock. the intake sound might be a tad loud for my taste, but i love it regardless.

the install took about 30 mins. it could have gone faster if i didn't have such a tough time removing the accordian-type intake tube. i'm very satisfied with the intake. I already have about 500 miles on the intake; it was a busy weekend.

i'm not in the market for any other performance mods until the Cobb Flashes come out (if). So far the intake has Jungle's Seal of Approval. (said Seal of Approval is registered for use only by Jungleradio)

I think my Speed brand upgrades should be considered stock.... but here's the list.
Current Mods:
-MazdaSpeed CAI
-MazdaSpeed CBE
-MazdaSpeed Sport Springs/Camber Links
-MazdaSpeed Dampers
-TWM STS/Bushings/Type R Shift Knob
-TRZ Delrin MotorMount

Waiting To Be Installed:
-Hotckis Sway Bar Kit (sitting in the garage in the box.) lol

Future Mods:
-After-Market Wheels and wider stickier rubber
-PG Manifold
-DP w/Hi-Flow Cat

Should be done after that. I'm looking at the Xede piggyback solution, but I'll hold off until later next year when PNP is available. I'm thinking it'll be another 12 months anyhow to get this installed. It's ok though, enough time to save some cash.
