the waiting game

Hi folks, just joined in anticipation of my new car. My current one is a 06 mx5 gt, Nordic green/orangey leather.
I started my search a month ago. Tested a few things including a fusion, a 6 and a cx5. Drove both the I and s versions of the 3. Decided on the 2014 3s gt hatch. 17 days ago I decided on a color (titanium) but dealer didn't have any and the nearest one was in the Chicago area. Salesperson said we could get it from there but it'd be extra. Immediately after, he said hang on and went to see someone. He came back and said there's a couple on the boat en route. 4 days from port and then 14 days after that it should be at the dealers.
Got an email today saying it wouldn't be in til the 6th.not a happy camper at the moment since I just had the car cleaned in preparation for trade in.
And so, I continue to wait.

Don't feel too bad. I've been looking for a replacement for my '03 Mazda6s (210,500 miles) and it was between a new '6 and the new '3. Anyway I ended up going with a 3i Touring + Tech Package in Soul Red with a manual transmission. Within 250 miles (which includes Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis) there are all of 16 manual transmission 3i tourings according to the Mazda USA site, and zero configured even close to what I'd want (would accept one of the blues as well). So mine is on order from the factory (placed the order 3 weeks ago) and I'm still waiting for confirmation of the date it will be built and then put on the boat.

Ouch I know what you mean. Finding a manual is def. Difficult. Mazda expects only 7-10 % of their 3i sales right be manuals so dealers don't order many. I wish the s models were available with it now. I'm not willing to wait for it though. Want the car before winter. If I had been willing to do an i in the titanium, there's one within 100 miles, but I really want the extra hp.

I know exactly how you feel. The papers were signed a month ago, but the car won't arrive for at least another week... I've been compensating by studying the workshop manual in detail, reading/watching far too many reviews (pretty pointless since I've decided on the car long ago), comparing accessories prices all over Europe (they vary greatly) and debating the merits of winter tires on 18'' rims with everyone I've met... I feel like I'm in withdrawal from a drug I haven't even tried yet. I'm very bad at this waiting game. lol

I have been waiting for SGT hatch with the full tech package. Just hear from my dealer that it's on the boat and should hit port the first week of December. Luckily i am in San Diego wich is where the majority of the Mazdas destined for the west coast come in. I have gone as far as to try to figure out what ship it's on.

This sounds so much like me its not even funny. Lol. Though I won't shell out the $$ for a workshop manual, I have been reading the smart start guide and owners manual.
I'd prefer to have winter tires on a smaller wheel, but unless I can convince them to give me the 16s off a lower trim, that's what I'll do. My Motegi 17s are reserved for summer duty.

Well tomorrow is hopefully the day and I haven't heard negatively from them, so I guess that's a good thing. After reading the What did you pay thread, I should be able to get within 500 of invoice. As long as they will give me a decent/fair price for the trade in I should have pics tomorrow. If not there is another dealer 13 miles from them that has said they will beat anyone's price. Wait is almost over. Whee!

So the dealer didn't call. I called them about 2 left a message and after an hour wait I called again. They said nope not in. Don't know when it'll be here. I said OK. You lost a sale. Went to another dealer. Wound up getting the soul red with almond interior. Pics will follow once I see it in the daylight. Lol!
