As a few here and on the tech site already know....I have a desire for the RX-8 rims on my 6....some think WTF? I decided to go all out....but keeping my factory look. I have 3s rims almost here and later on down the road (Out of D.C.) I will get theses rims......for those who wonder for the umteen time why....lok at the picts below...factory but still screams not factory at the same time.

Looks really sharp, awesome! That second pic isn't as sharp (different lighting, quality?) but the top one is great.

A very clean, factory-like look, yet still looks plenty custom. (thumb)

I still say WTF... I dunno they look pretty factory to me... Besides that I've seen rims that would look even better on the 6... I think in Japan you can get those rims on the 6 as an option
The rims you are refering to ate the 17's tha the atenza got and the accesory dept wants like $300 for....these are 18's and come with the RX-8 package...and yes they stand out but still look stock...as intended. I havn't found a set of rims that I like and I been looking for a good while...if this was a civic I would have had 5 sets of rims but since it isn't....I gotta make shure to not over do it..(No 20' crome spreewells or [fake spinners (hah) (ricer) ]) 6 is a grown up car so you can't just throw playskool rims on and call it pimp...I'm not attacking you....just wanna keep that lil bit of Luxury/Sport look by going with stock options..only chrome I think about was the 17's that kinda look like the 6s rims

Umm - do you realize that the Mazda logo in the center of the stock wheels (16 and 17) is a standard size, quite removable and quite easily translpanted into most aftermarket wheels?

Hope that opens up your options for a 'stock look' :)

hmm maybe(shrug)

Considering most aftermarket wheels (good quality ones, anyway, not Motegicrapetc ;)) are lighter than Mazda's stock wheels (the 16s and 17s are over 20 lbs each!), for about the same price, I wouldn't bother about staying 'stock', considering the performance improvement from going to good quality lighter aftermarket wheels!

looks like the 3s rims were a no go so i'll go ead and get my tires replaced like I was originaly avoiding....I'll look again at aftermarket selection....

Whatever man I plan on picking myself up some 18' MOMOs... Which Many of them offered on several BMW Models.... Hmmm Trash over the top I think not! A little expensive maye but the few hundred dollars extra is worth it!!! And I own a 6s I think I know what kid of car it is.... Factory doesn't always equal class!

I second that!!!

get some mazdaspeed rims. they're almost stock :)
i'm surprised the offset fits the rx8 and the 6. interesting.

Um yeah...after finding out how my rims bent sooo easy I kinda caught on now....I wanted the rims but if I'm bending 16's here then 18's would be a massacure 4-real!!! Godamn aloys!!!

Few notes on the RX8 rims...

1) Even though their 18x8 +50 offset...they still rub in the rear. Your going to have to roll the rear fenders. (This confirmed by MULTIPLE sources)
2) Though the rims are about the same weight as the Mazda6 stock ones, the tire is actually heavier. This combined with the increased diameter (weight's more on the outside) is similar in effect on the car's performance as adding 100 lbs of weight.

This data extrapolated using the following formula's.
http://www.mazda6tech.com/files/rotational.xls

100 lbs = 0.1 seconds in the 1/4, or 15 hp.

FYI - check the forsale forums on rx8club - someone local (mazdamn or mazdamaniac of DC) is selling his 18s with tires.

sorry you caught me at the end of my "Part Life Crisis".....I realized aloy bends...too much money to keep throwing away at the streets of D.C.! too many craters in the roads and highway...(bird) gota love the year round construction that lasts less than a year after it is "Fixed"...Yep I settled on nothing past 17 and can fit 225 "comfortably".....maybe if I go somewhere else with better roads I'll reconsider the 18's.

would black with polished lip look ok on a non carbon fiber hodded lapis blue?

Um yeah good thing I didn't have a 18 inch chrome spreewell obcession or i'd cancel out intake and stock tranny.
