i had heard about this a while ago, if mazda was smart, they would sell at half off or for parts, unless the insurance covers all of it.

I would've gladly purchased one of the wrecked cx-7 and a mazda 3 flat out cash it's a shame that or sell the hardly dented ones to a needy family or something

yeah, they actually had to completly destroy the vehicles for insurance to cover it. down to deploying the airbags, etc.

This same thing happened to a BMW shipment of the newer body style cars (e90, e92)... including a bunch of m3's. The transport's insurance company covered it but crushed all the cars as well. I would have thought the insurance company would sell the cars off or something to make more money back?

the problem is that if one of the vehicles has a problem that could cause a catastrophic failure, the company selling it would be liable.

Even if sold as parts car only? There are lots of sellers/junkyards doing that sort of thing. To ensure no chance of driveability they just hold onto/destroy the title. That way no ability to register the car.
