The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I was actually thinking about doing the DIY coilovers on the bilsteins. I just need to find more information on doing it.

Save yourself a bunch of time researching and just call Shaikh at FCM.

I probably will once I go get it. I'm leaving my house at 3am and then we're leaving my FIL's house at 4am our time. That should put use there around 10am their time when you allow time for breaks and a breakfast stop. After lunch and everything else we'll probably end up back home around 7-8pm.

Stick with the stock suspension while you learn how to drive the car, after that you can decide what you want to do. I don't like the spring idea, basically because it has been proven that even the stock bilsteins are not properly valved for the stock springs, so if you add a stiffer spring yes it will work but it really won't give you the best handling. The best comparison I can give you is, the suspension was made to be comfortable but feel sporty under certain conditions the same way they tuned the ECU to give you a "burst" of speed when the boost kicks in. It is not the best way to get the most power out of the stock setup, but it feels fast (until you get used to it). Since you're coming from an MS3, it might not feel very fast.

So far I'm very happy with Will's old setup, I could have gone for the V-MAXX which would have been cheaper, but I know a lot of people love how Wills car handled on track so I went with that.

I agree with Will about the OEM suspension. And no offense, but don't lower it before winter lol. These cars are already decently low! I was still planning on raising mine an inch over stock from the winter!

Just noticed Pablo also agrees. Sometimes this phone confuses me and doesn't load all the posts when I reload the page O.O

The MSM is home. I'm beat... another long & expensive day.

I will say, even in stock form the car is fun to slide around and easy to modulate. I have some issues to take care of before the suspension but come summer It will get lowered.

I'm currently running the FM V-Maxx on my Miata. I like them, they are a step-up in the handling department from the Bilstein PSS that were on the car when I bought it. I am thinking about getting a set of the new 949 Technas though, I'll see how the reviews are.

I thought I saw in one of the 45 emails I get from Auto Interests that they had received the deposits they needed?

"Last Day for our best Mid-Ohio deal! | Small Business Saturday
Hi Everyone,

Today is the last day to get our best Mid-Ohio deal for our May 5, 2014 Season Opener Event - $125 deposit with split payment option!
We only need to collect 6 more deposits of $125 by the end of today to reach our goal and fully commit this event!"

Just saw a FB post, they got the needed early registration needed for Mid-Ohio.

Excellent. I thought I saw it somewhere and that was why I didn't send in a deposit. However, I will be going to this. Just not sure when I will sign up.

I had a great weekend. 4 days off and 2 of them were paid holidays. We also got tickets to see TSO in Columbus on the 26th. I also updated my resume, I am hoping for a supervisor gig at the shop.

Got the keyfob on friday. Thanks again!

December is here!
Yay! Time to ask for car parts for Christmas

Update your sig for new car and start a build thread in the miata section!

I watched a lot of football all weekend, skipped the turkey (just not a fan) and had all the yummy side dishes. Found some really cool stuff when going through my some tubs from my Mom's house. Found an autographed picture of Scott Pruett from when he raced for True Sports, autographed Richard Petty photo (these will be going in my man cave) and a bunch of family stuff that I had never seen before and stuff I hadn't seen in a long time.
