The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

where can you get a speed 3 for a dime for 12!?!?! i must be stupid because i paid 11000 for just one!

It was definitely the most common car at the meet yesterday that's for sure.

But, it makes sense... What else offers the same thing in terms of performance for the same amount of money?

I would say the Focus ST does, but that's new, whereas the Speed3 has been around so you can pick them up used. The WRX is a bit more expensive new and holds it's value a bit better, so they tend to be more expensive used.

Just sayin'.

Really good turnout. Prolly somewhere around double the cars of last year. I never realized so many speed 3s were in this crew.

I agree. I think there were only 3 non-MS3 there out of all of them. And now after driving Sunni's car, I want a turboed car even more now.

that was my first initial thought as well, Nick, have him set cruise control when the light flickers on.... if it wont hold cruise i would wager the speed sensor is going

i remember when mine popped out of the mounting spot on the strut and rubbed the wheel to the point of causing a similar issue, i lost cruise control and my traction control light came on THANKFULLY mine was as simple as cutting and splicing some wire

I will definitely suggest that to him. I didn't know your car has traction control. I thought that wasn't offered until like 07?

we have it (it just dont have a switch for it) dont you remember our cars throwing the TC light when on the dyno at Mikes?? hahaha

I think there was only 3-4 non Mazdaspeed vehicles. My Miata, Jess's Miata, Corey/April's Mazda2, and I think a Protege.

Affordability is key. When car shopping last year, I narrowed down to two options. 16K for a new base model Elantra with a 100k mile warranty that id burn through in 2 years or 16k for an ms3 with 25k miles on it and no warranty past 70k. I chose the ms3 so i wouldnt hate my life :)

Yep! I agree completely. The MS6 are probably similarly affordable, but since they made a limited number they just aren't around.

Yup. I test drove an ms6 but didnt pull the trigger because the clutch felt very heavy and i was weary about buying a car with an upgraded clutch. Glad i didnt...one of the guys in MS Pittsburgh bought it and has had nothing but problems with it.

If they decide to make a new MS6, that may be my next car. Especially if it's a twin turbo diesel!

That would be pretty awesome. Particularly if it has great diesel gas mileage.

My regular protege was there for a bit, along with a p5- lotta' mazdaspeed 3s, cool to see so many gathered in one place. I think there was also a few regular mazda6's, and if it counts it looks like a civic showed up for a bit

also the focus ST has huge turbulence when trying to break into bigger numbers. someone went bt on one and it yeilded 291 whp and 330 ftlbs and maxxed out the DI injectors, eDiff, and had major clutch issues.
