The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Anyone have any experience with wiring up power locks on a vehicle that's never had power locks? My soon to be my main work truck, 2011 E-350 SuperDuty w/28 foot boom, is going to be my new work vehicle. My current is a 2008 E-150 with factory power windows & locks, cruise & such (wasn't meant to be a work truck, boss just bought it off the lot). I've found a Avital 2101 kit from a1electronics.com Clicky clicky that may seem to work. To my knowledge, it's a rod system. This is the 2 door system, but i want a 4 which according to their pricing scheme is $25 more than the 2 door system. Which makes their price is $134.95 (their link on their website is broken).

Called a place & they want $80 per door to wire up their own actuators & another $150 for the keyless entry key fob. Over $470 is a little pricey just for that. Anyone have any other input?

The other kit that i'm looking at is Clicky clicky for $150

The Avital kit is more like my current remote start system on my Mazda 6 & my sister-in-laws Tundra. We've never had any issues with the Avital system which is why i'm leaning more towards that one. Input?

just saw this on fb and it's a good idea!

Apparently this is a standard procedure
paramedics follow at the scene of an accident when they come across your cell phone.

ICE - 'In Case of Emergency'
We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.
...
If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call.. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency?
Hence this 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.

The concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell(mobile) phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name 'ICE' (In Case Of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact
the right person by simply dialling the number you have stored as 'ICE.'
For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference!

Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today!
Please forward this . It won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this .

It really could save your life, or put a loved
one's mind at rest . ICE will speak for you when you are not able to.

hub+bearing replacement

Hi has anyone here replaced a front hub an bearing on a mazda 6i. I know it needs to be pressed an I have a good sum of what i need to do. If anyone could give me any advice on this or is willing to help im in columbus area if anyones up for it.

My phone has a custom message you can put on the unlock screen. It's got my name and "IN CASE OF EMERGENCY CALL:" and my wife's phone number. Since I started commuting on 2 wheels, I also got a RoadID bracelet with my medical info (there ain't much, but at least they know) and, again, my wife's phone number.

i was looking for a house to rent in Watkins Glen for the race weekend in June ... found a good one and then saw this ..

Harbor West is $275 night and we have a two night minimum during the mid season
and a four night minimum during the high season.
Low season is $250 night and there is a two night minimum
$50 linen fee for any stays under four nights.
Rent for 5 nights and get 2 nights free.
High Season - Memorial Day to Mid September - Low Sesson Mid December to Mid March
Mid season - all others
Special Events, Holidays and Race weeks are 7x the nighly rate

WTF, talk about PRICE GOUGING!!!!! I'm sorry, but who's really going to pay $1925 a night unless you're staying in the presidential suite in the ritz carlton ... really?? I wonder if it's a typo! I may inquire just for s**** and giggles ...

I do, not that hard, just need to find a good ground and a power source.

Well looks like i'm not getting my power locks. A co-worker is adamant that i not have power locks as he doesn't, even though my current setup has one. Even though it's relatively inexpensive, he says i don't need them. We'll see how this plays out, it's not over

after my experience of trying to change the front hubs in a protege, just take it to a mechanic. 6 might be set-up different but with all the rustyness from salt etc. getting the axle out might be more than you bargined for

I bought a 12 ton press the other day so I can start changing out my wheel bearings that go bad every 2 years :) I also got a bench grinder/bolishing wheel combo.
