The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

LOL!

Jess, I don't want to tell anyone what to do with their own money, but that's like me spending money on the Milly instead of the P5. Shouldn't you be focused on finishing the Miata? I want a ride, damn it.

Oh I know. I was just tryin to figure out if I could even get it to fit. I'm not anywhere near close to buying anything but Miata parts. This is the longest ive gone without modding something!

Miata rad brackets are done, sway bar brackets are welded on where they need to be, fans/shroud are mounted on rad.... As it sits now I need a clutch (was hoping I didn't) and then I can mount tranny to motor and put it in for good.

Ride in the miata? Or the smart lol?

I thought you had a clutch already? It was like 33lbs or something? And I'll take a ride in the Smart for now, as long as you drift it. lulz

Jess, what color is your smart? If its black, was that you weaving like a mad woman on 77/76 & the Kenmore leg? I don't think the average smart car owner would do that.

This morning? Probably. Temp tags? Me. Lol. Yes it's black.

Evan, that came with the tranny but it was toast. I thought I could just get a new disc which I did... But I thought about it more and called the company who built the clutch kit and it will work for a little bit, but then it will start slipping. So I will be getting an LS7 clutch kit. Just pissed me off cuz I thought I wouldn't have to spend $ on a clutch lol.

Yep, that was you then. Looks like the smart won't do any good a keeping you out of trouble like planned.

I'm afraid not. I had an open shot at the 77s (277?) to 224e on ramp yesterday finally. Went in at 60, came out at 55 lol.

Did you see me this morning or yesterday? This mornings drive was much more subdued than yesterdays.

This morning. I too was more laid back this morning, however, that was mostly because I was too tired to try to make any time.

I'm a little confused then because I did 70 almost the whole way. Was in middle lane, rode it up to a gap in the exit lane for kenmore leg, tucked in, then stayed in the left lane to exit on 76e. Lol. I didn't really weave today. Yesterday I was though.

I guess, since I was barely awake, I was more surprised you were up my ass in a smart car. You then decided to grab three more spots right before taking the ramp after I had given up taking any more. You did take off down the kenmore leg pretty good though (considering its 55 and nobody will do even that)

Were you in the 6? I don't recall bein behind one but I'm not 100% awake then either, lol. Sorry about that. I usually come up on people fast and if I realize they aren't going anywhere I pass. I try not to tailgate people for long distances, especially if traffic is obviously what's slowing everyone down.

Anyways! Where has everyone been?

No, I was driving the wife's Saturn with the bike rack on the back.

On other news, im getting irritated waiting on the machine shops to get my stuff back to me. I want to start engine assembly ASAP. I am really anxious to get back into my 6 after 2.5 years.

I remember seeing you now! Lol. Incognito in the Saturn!

What all did you have the machine shop do? And what are the goals? Sorry if I missed this somewhere in this thread.

work work work... Marc helped me fix the brakes on the Sonata yesterday, I'm gravity bleeding them for now but after a proper bleed all I have to do is fix the exhaust and wash it

Ok, long story short here:

Two years ago I spun the bottom end (rod bearings, caused cylinder to tap heads). Mazda AJ (duratec 3.0L v6) + 1200 miles over OCI + -2 degree morning = one of those "oh ****" moments.
Fast forward to this year, I got a spare motor that needed only rings to rebuild. Tore it down and sent it off the machine shop for cylinder honing (had no wear but to seat the rings right, honing was required). This shop had a decent price on rotating assembly balancing, and considering I was going to put a fresh light weight flywheel and new cleavite77 bearings, it should rev nicer, and get better mileage.
After dropping that off I took my heads to another shop for a 5 angle valve job. I'm not taking any chances, cause this is a b**** to drop and too expensive to tear into again.

I should have atleast the heads this week. The machine shop should be calling me because I still need to get rings, but am waiting to find out what exactly my bore is (he was supposed to check all to verify a bore of the cylinders wasn't necessary) so I can get a set of rings out to him for the balance.

I'm just anxious messing around in the garage cleaning stuff up and getting ready for this build. I will be attempting to assembly and install the motor in approximately 2 weeks.

I was in school, and didn't have the money, and was paying for my wedding. So it sat at my mom's house and I bought the RX7 as my DD. Now the FC is my project car, and the 6 shall resume full on kick ass DD duty.

Edit: and the wife (fiance untill last year) wouldn't let me touch it till now.
