The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Nope...all on it's own. lol

Pain in the ass with how dead the battery is! Had to keep hooking up the jump box, so I finally just left it hooked up...that's why the hood is up.

I did that was me with the Black Miata in CS #99, I am running it a few times to get the MSM discount since they are getting picky about results.

Duh I'm retarded. I didn't remember if I met you before that event and was wondering where the hell the RX-7 was to meet up with you. My bad, now I know. How did you do?

I won the class it was the battle of the street tires, I was 1st out of 2 cars in CS. I am liking the miata forgot how easy it was to drive quickly. Just need to curb the wheel hoop at the start.

stay AWAY from the meatballs

they probably won't even be SERVING them this year because of THAT! lol

anyway, another reminder to any slouchers out there, one more week to buy Mid Ohio tix at $40 before the price goes up on May 4!! get on it!! as usual, it will be an epic event!!

i was RIGHT!! they DIDN'T serve meatballs, just pizza with everything securely stuck on top ... lol
we didn't stay for the party, but a few of the mazda peeps (meeps) said they all got sick from the pizza : / so i'm glad we left and hit up TacoMac ... found an AWESOME beer RJ Rockers Son of a Peach (hefe) .. good luck finding that one up here : (

had a good time in ATL, a bit more subdued than last year without our local homeys around, but a good time none the less. It was great seeing our ATL and other southern state friends.

is there a mid-ohio thread anywhere?

i'm trying to talk a couple of my coworkers into coming out.

So.....I couldn't wait until the end of June to do a track day at Mid-Ohio....so I signed up for a track day at Beaverun (I think they renamed it to Pittsburgh International Race Complex).

I remember last year, the event I went to there was on a Saturday or Sunday. I'm not sure why, but this year they're on Fridays? O well...I signed up for the May 18 track day. It's $200 and you get 4 sessions (25 minutes each) on the track. Groups 1 and 2 are in the morning and you get an instructor. Group 3 runs in the afternoon with no instructors. I did a track day there last year and I had a blast! The track isn't very long, but it has some really fun elevation changes and it's a pretty smooth track. The back straight is pretty long, I remember hitting 120-125.

Here's the site if anyone else is interested: http://pittrace.com/pittpde.html

And here's the event registration page: http://www.motorsportreg.com/index..../uidEvent/744B6290-083B-F060-A98663E90FCBC9A2

There's a weekend track day coming up at gingerman on memorial day weekend also. $160/day, Sunday you run the track in reverse. I'm trying to get the white miata done and if I do both the miata and the 2 will be going :)

If you're interested in some more Mid-Ohio track days, check out PCA. They have track events the next 3 weekends at Mid-Ohio. I've ran with 4 different regions and each one has done a tremendous job. I'm doing an event with the NNJR (Northern New Jersey Region) May 18-20, $375 without an instructor or $425 with for all 3 days.

They do 4-5 30 minute sessions each day and since a lot of the guys are from New Jersey they head out early so they almost always open the track up to anyone for extra sessions Sunday afternoon. Last year the last 2 hours of open track was open to all the remaining cars. Membership is $46/year.

I'm not affiliated with PCA in any way I just think it's a really good deal for track time and a great club to run with.

DaveB used to run with the Allegheny Region of the PCA. That's when I used to go watch him back in the day.

I use to run with Allegheny, Maumee Valley, Mid-Ohio, Northern Ohio, Ohio Valley and NNJR
They all are great people and fun to run with. But I do agree with WillD, Sunday with NNJR is the best
You may never find a better deal. I did run with Chin Motorsports once and they also run only three groups called fast middle and slow. And on day two you could run with the group next to yours but you had to follow their passing rules, so if you where with the slow group you could run with middle and slow. If you where in middle you could run with all three groups

Lookie what I got in the mail!

Also got my JBR short shift plate and installed it. More on that in my build thread.

Damn...that is pretty cheap!

In other news, I FINALLY had an interview for my Air Traffic Controller job, and I'm being recommended for hire! It's only taken me 6 years to get to this point...lol

Next steps are passing the backround/security check, medical, and psychiatric evaluation, then they'll tell me when to report to OKC for training. The timeline differs between each applicant though....so I don't know exactly when all this will get done. I'm guessing I'll have it all done over the summer, and get a class date in the fall sometime. I'm just hoping it will be in September at the latest. Training is for 3 months, and anything after October, and I'll have to miss Sophia's first X-mas. :(

That's awesome! I know you told me a bit of what you've gone through to get this far, that's great it's finally starting to pay off!
