The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

What's up Ohio?

Glad to see that the clutch install went well. I'm hoping to be able to be able to join in on your wrenching soon enough! I've got a few meetings coming up to discuss when I'm leaving. I should know soon enough.

ditto with you evan, set up a day and ill be out to help

Well, first thing I'm going to want to do when I get home is take a ride in the redhead. Then... order necessary parts for her transmission swap. Nothing big, just a few little things. Then after that, who knows.

Well the garage is better lit and warmer now than it was last winter, Phen. And I'm sure we can get your trans swapped over with some help from some friends. It just sucks that it's for a proper wheel drive car and I am only familiar with the FWD tranny's.

Levi, maybe we can borrow Shawns tranny hoist again? That made it pretty simple.

Hope fully it's not snowing by then!!!!

I wanted to come help, but I needed to study since I worked the rest of the weekend. Those wheels look sweeeeet! Any pics on the car?

I have a feeling that it's something that I'm going to buy anyway, so no worries there. I expect to use it a bit.

My plan is to rock the 5 speed until I can find a reasonably priced 6 speed, or have mine rebuilt. Of course, my mind may change after driving the 5 speed. The clutch in the P5 may need replaced soon. I've got 158k on the factory clutch. I have a tendency to go many miles on clutches. The Civic had the original up to 170k.

not as good as the uk version by far, the hosts just aren't that good. don't know how to explain it but they just don't seem to have chemistry with each other and just don't give off a like-able vibe like the uk version. Maybe it'll get better through the season, "Big Star, Small Car" segment is a dumb uncreative name. should've just called it the same thing

ask and ye shall recieve haha

Yeah, that sucked. The UK version is sooooo much better. You're right, Nate. The UK version just has the chemistry and like-able hosts. And I know Tanner Foust is a great driver but such a cocky bastard. I used to watch his show "Supercars Expossed" with the mute button on. But lke you said, hopefully it will get better as the season goes on. And that's funny they decided to put an 80 year old behind the wheel of their "resonably priced car". Oy. I'll just stick to TopGear UK on Monday nights. :)

Phen, you do fill up the DVR pretty quick. How much Star Trek can you watch, man? haha

top gear usa sucked! but i knew it would...tanner foust ruins shows about cars...he's too dry and not funny...

I think I have a dumb question but I have to ask...
Is there any type of gauge or light or...something (besides a possible dash hawk) that can tell you what gear you are in when you are shifting? (Mazdaspeed 3 doesnt have anything notifying driver of this)
I have the hardest time trying to remember what gear I am in. I am not very good at the whole shifting thing as it is but I am learning and was hoping this would help!
Thanks!

Tanner is just terrible, I've never seen a show with him that i have liked. it got a little better at the end, mainly cause he lost. They should have done one of the contests where the host get like 5k and pick a old used car and have funny tests.

I'd say it's just something you get a feel for, how the car feels in each gear, as far as revs, sound, perceived acceleration, etc. You can also get an idea of how the shifter looks in each gear (top or bottom row of gears). Or, you could go for the bling-iest solution:

i just wish they would make up their own s*** instead of copy it straight from the uk show and then explain everything to death...i think people can figure out what you are doing, i don't need to know how the lap time board works or who the stig is...ugh....
