The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

how's this for an auto response.

Hello Chris,

Thanks for contacting Mazda. I appreciate the opportunity to respond to you.

Our records indicate that your vehicle, with Vehicle Identification Number, JM1BJ226531155323, has no open Recalls or Special Service Programs at this time.

Recalls are mandated by the Federal government, not by individual car manufacturers. Also, keep in mind that Recalls and Special Service Programs are VIN specific. As such, not all vehicles produced during a model year will be affected.

Since the vehicle is now out of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, any repair assistance would come from your extended warranty company.

Again, thank you for contacting Mazda. It has been my pleasure to reply to this matter.

Regards,

Pass, I already have gawd awful wheel gap. Winter set up though, hmmm?

No worries. I think I'm just going to buy snow tires for them and not get another set of wheels that I don't need. The MSM needs a new set before the P5 does.

so.... found out some good things and some bad things about the wheels tonight haha

good:
the wheels i bought look great and came off an FC rx7 so the hub bore is a good fit
all wheels looked good/rolled straight
have 4 tires that will fit (215/45/17) all with very good tread
2 tires i can sell (255/45/17) that look brand freaking new (dunno if any of you guys want them but id sell em for cheap)

bad:
the wheels will be incredibly flush (17x8 30 offset) not going for a hellaflush look but i couldnt pass on the wheels at the price i got them for and ill make it fit so i can keep the car functional haha

Good news you don't need the hubs bored out. What an awful feeling, knowing you need to drop another $200 into the wheels just to get them to work...I would know...

Also, I think +30 could look nice...I sort of wanted 18x8 +35 instead of +48 when I was looking for a set of Ultraleggeras...It might not have worked though.
What size are the tires, 235?

Um, not seeing how this is a bad thing.. You talking about having problems with the tires clearing the fenders?

tires are 215/45/17 and im cool with that since they came with the wheels

yeah thinking its gonna be awful close to having to pull/roll the fenders more than i have already haha

Like you said, Levi. We'll put them on Saturday and see how they look and we will make them work. haha

Still looking forward to wrenching saturday. If anyone wants to stop over feel free.

And I'm looking forward to sunday to finally having some alone time with my KLZE in the garage and pulling it apart, cleaning, hour-glassing the TB, knife edging the IM and such. It's been a busy month for LMS.

less camber would stand the wheel more upright... im thinking the rears will look good where they are, and the fronts are the ones im a tad worried about rubbing and such haha

I think Steve meant more negative camber... (that sounds like an oxymoron) More of less please! "None more black" - Spinal Tap

i have a good bit of camber in the rear already, i cant really get much more in the front

i want aggressive but still functional, not a hellaflush fitment stupid amounts of camber kind of deal... lol

Yes, less camber = more negative camber. Aggressive & functional is the only way to go. No hellaflush encouragement here, I'm just giving you some advice so you can rock those wheels, cause they are gonna make jaws drop. And I'm not saying put it at -3+ degrees, but a half degree can make a big difference. Also, again I'm not overly familiar with fitment on the 3's, but typically (on FF cars) you will have more issues with rubbing in the rear due to the lower spring rates on the rear suspension. There's just more suspension travel compared to the front. I only run -1.0 at each corner on my car, but -2.0 wouldn't have any ill effects. Do you use camber bolts on each hub mount already?

On another note, I need to get a garage...

i have rear camber links in the rears and i dont think the rears are going to be the the issue, if im rubbing i think its going to be up front... hahaha
