The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I'm sorry Kevin, but the garage at LMS has already been reserved for a Mr. Levi Tolbert, Saturday the 20th. We would like to reschedule for a following saturday/sunday at your earliest convience. ~respectfully, Evan Lewis (President, Lewis Motorsports)

I bought some more florescent lighting for the garage and 120watt flood lights for the ceiling sockets. I just wish we had moar power outlets in the there...

Run a long heavy duty extension cord from a good outlet in the basement and you should be all set

yup, she's really gone

^^^ RWD > FWD. Everytime, all the time, LOL.

Man, I wish I could have been up there today but I had one hell of a time just doing the front suspension bushing replacement. Was working from 1-7 PM. Definitely encountered more snags during this install than any other with this car.

I always said that all along before I had the Miata. Since I've gotten it, the few times I've broken it out, it's not really been enjoyable, and I'm not sure if it's because it's always like snap oversteer, or if it's unexpected because of my inexperience with the car. I'm not sure if that's a result of the stock suspension, or me just being a nube. It'd be one thing if I could find out what the car does on the track, but I don't really want the back walking out around a corner over undulations in the pavement.

sounds like the suspension might be gone if it's that bad. My plan was get a nice fun fwd car for everyday then build my camaro, but that hasn't worked out....damn you mazda forums! It's also cause i can't make up my mind on what i want to do on the camaro and it's easier to see progress from modding on a working car.

wow, looks like we would have alot of interest in a golf outing next spring sometime, ill see what i can arrange after winter :)

and evan (lewis) as of right now, my buddy sean looks to be coming out with me friday night, hes going to drive my car and im going to bring lindsey out something could change but as of right now thats the plan to to get lindsey home and fix my car all in one weekend without multiple trips

Sounds like you just need to get used to driving rwd more. Getting comfortable with the point where friction is overcome is very important. More tire and suspension upgrades will make this point more easily sustained and more easily felt...

If you can drive in the snow/ice, then you can control rwd. Counter-steer. ;)

Don't get out much anymore, but I can play. :)

I got my BPV and put it on. I like the sound: Like stock but louder and metallic. It came with a yellow spring and one shim. I've heard the blue spring is recommended, but I figure yellow with a shim would be comparable to the lower end of the blue spring. I mean, it blows off when I let off the throttle after spooling, so I suppose it is doing it's job. Other than the sound, it did not affect performance--in fact, my car felt sluggish today, but I'm thinking it was the full fuel load and the 40 degree weather this morning. Kayden gets pissy at times! All in all, I paid $72 when new it is shipped for $160. I can buy a rebuild kit and springs for $30, and have a 'brand new' BPV for $100 if I feel it is neccessary; at this point I do not think I need anything, though.

I can sometimes notice a difference between a full and empty tank in the 626. The colder temps should give a bit more pep once warmed up, no? Denser air, bigger charge of oxygen, etc.

Totally logical and correct about the colder/denser air, but I always assumed that if it got too cold it would actually hinder performance--I have no reasoning to back this up. But give me 60 degrees and a half tank of gas and Kayden is a h0rny b1tch!

Counter-steer. ;)
This.

I'd much rather counter-steer and be able to maintain my line then have to back off the throttle and/or turn angle on a FWD. I definitely got squirrely a few times in the Protege, but for me it's just much more intuitive to correct in a RWD platform. Maybe it's because the Protege was the first and only FWD vehicle I drove for an extended period of time (always had a truck) or maybe it's because I like to "practice" with my truck in the snow :D

I've never heard them before.. I'm just looking forward to the huge ass increase in hp they give...

Are you rocking OEM injectors? You may have some issues at idle with them. I can't remember all of the issues that someone I know had, but I can try to find out.

Went to the Canton Symphony with Tessa tonight. It was really fun. I think we were the youngest couple there, that's for sure. heh-heh.

I did some work to the P5 so it was drying in the garage so we took her Audi TT, 1.8l turbo 5-speed. It's actually a pretty nice little car, even if it is still a chick car. It cruises on the highway and I had no trouble leaving tailgating Toyota Camrys safely behind me. But the visibility sucks. It feels like you're in a tank looking out little holes or a submarine or something. It's scary changing lanes at night in that thing.

Lol sounds like a Miata with the top up and no side mirrors.. I had the same beef with the 370z I test drove.

I'm down for Golfing. I didn't get a chance to play this year, but I want to get back into it. I just don't have a lot of friends that golf anymore haha.
