The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

nationwide uses used parts unless they can't and try not to tell you about it

News to me. The only used part I've ever gotten from a Nationwide funded repair was the used B18C1 that they put into my Civic after I hydrolocked the first one. Everything on the MSM was new... because I know who they ordered the parts from. The Flyin' Miata FMIC was replaced too.

Is this furreal the first LMS project? I got lucky and was the photog. (rolleyes) Who am I kidding, I'm just the only one that showed up with a camera.

Most of the big stuff still attached

Hmmm, PG work, here.. Cross threaded bolt on the rear mount. Yup, the metal shavings are the threads getting shaved off..

Huh... funny how much more room you have in there while the red head is sitting in Pittsburgh eh?

Aw, I wish I knew you guys would be up to stuff this weekend; I would have headed up to help out/drink. The wife has a friend in town and they're doing crafty stuff so I'm bored out of my mind.

In other news I'm having deviant thoughts concerning a certain el es ex engine...

Blasphemy!

Don't hear much from Kev on here anymore...I wish I could swap an engine, but not in 40 degree weather!

edit: still going turbo, or no?

oh, i'm still here, just don't post too much as i do read others! :) and no turbo; i want to keep it extra reliable.

and Wes, thanks for posting the pics! i'm going to head out now and turn on the heaters to warm up the garage!

got a laugh out of the required pic. i know you going super reliable but did you do any porting or a header anything like that or just straight stock?

Blasphemy!
LOL I know! I was so bored I was browsing around looking at Granny's Speed Shop stuff. 400 hp/tq and no weight gain is certainly tempting...

Man, am I glad I got out of the Protege scene when I did. Some of the new guys on the forums are just plain clueless!

Indeed they are. Hurts my head.

Between the Ohio folks, we have pretty much all the Protege info you could ever need. LOL. I've had to fix mine a number of times, Jon turbo'd his, several others have done various things too.

Success!!! and she starts!!! ...the timing is a bit off since it sounds like i have elephant size cams and i'm pretty sure that there's a vac leak coming from the intake mani gasket.; but other that, she sounds pretty good!

thanks for LMS and the rest of the crew for helping! i couldn't have done it with out you!!!

Here are more pics from today. Like Kevinator said, it's got some killer cams, but other than that, it smooths out with a touch of throttle and runs good up to all of 4k rpms, which was all the higher he would rev it.. I think Pablo should have driven it to really break it in! For all the doubters, there is noting but solid quality that gets churned out of LMS. We even tried to tell Kevin about the timing, but he insisted, and at that point we resorted to the much-used "it's your car, dude."

Pulleys and belts on the engine. Trans isn't on yet.

Kevin insisted he had dibs on bottom, so we let him take it.

Evan grabbed my camera and snapped this before it could get focused on my Sunday finest..

It's strictly business here at LMS.

Kev about to fire up the beast. We didn't have a fire extinguisher on hand, but the garden hose was within reach..

It smells like Fruit PANCAKES! That's just the header wrap baking out, not to worry.
