The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

gotta understand though...
the ones that are slammed live in areas with nice roads... they dont realize how destroyed roads are in the NE bc of snow and salt and plows etc etc

if i lived in texas id slam the **** out of a car cause they worst roads i saw there were better than roads we would consider nice... haha

The guy's not bragging. He actually told DUB to go ahead and take him off the "Slammed List" because he was going to raise up a little. At least some people are rational.

Yeah, I since read the thread. There are some people with sense in that thread, but none of them are on the list, lol.

I couldn't stop laughing when Wes said he was just going to lower his oil pan. Haha

ps- I have to bite my tongue in the "Moderately Low" thread sometimes because cats are thinking that's the thread to post if you're not slammed enough for a 19 year-old kid to give you a meaningless magic number.

I like kitties. There, I'm better now. :)

lol

yeah, that poor thread has been taken over by the rejects and the slammed people... and wagonbacker.

some nice cars are in there though. but i am sick of the bitching and arguing. oh, and nice rotas.... toolbag! (im sure you know what im talking about)

I survived Buchtel High. Office people weren't very friendly and I had no idea where my room was, but a kid in the hallway was nice enough to walk me there. I was looking around, trying to find a set of stairs (they have 4 floors, yet one set of stairs only goes from 1st to 2nd and then stops....WTF?) and this kid goes, "Where you goin' mang?" I said: "Hey man, I'm looking for Mr. Hayes' room." He said: "I know where that is--follow me!" It was nice to have someone offer to help.

The biggest shocker is just being the minority for once. Seeing security guards blocking the doors and patroling the halls was crazy (not one or two, but about 6 total security.) But the kids were really cool and I look forward to getting to know them more--I'll be going every Tuesday to help out Mr. Hayes (who is a really nice guy as well) for Government and AP American History class for the next 10 weeks.

Well... post pictures and take it back. I can't access most of my car photos so I can't do much.

I GOT YO BACK PHEN. On it now...I promise I will be nice when kicking slammed rejects out of the moderate thread

I just want to notify anyone from Team Ohio I may use your track pics I took in that thread. A point needs to be made that just having lowering springs does not make your car functional...Well, I guess technically you are moderately lowered, but if you still drive like an asshat it doesn't matter. That thread is for people who set their car up for the track. To this point, I believe only one guy has pics of his car in AutoX, and everyone is slamming him for using 35 series tires and how they look as they are being pushed to the limit. Sure, 35s might not be the beefiest, but whatev. /rant

Well... becareful on that aspect. I don't want people to think you must track or auto-x your car to be functional. Hell, I'll take a picture of a Miata hauling a kayak or something. Slap some springs, some nice looking wheels and drive it... that's good for me.

True, I think I covered my bases with that now. I don't mean track only cars either, just people who want track-like performance and enjoy driving their cars rather than being afraid of scraping and speed bumps.

Right. Or... photos of silly functionality...

That's awesome! I think instead of 'functionality' it might be 'practicality.' My buddy talk about this all the time, and the point is that you can still have a fun to drive car (even one that looks sweet, too) that's practical. I think a KL P5 would be an awesome example. You could have a nice suspension setup, plenty of quick with the KL, decent mileage, enough room inside (especially with the rear seats out), still be able to drive it in the winter, and you can put roof racks and stuff on it.

I've got 40-series tires and I worry about potholes and either bending the rim or getting a blister on the side of the tire. It hasn't happened yet, thankfully, but imo, there's no way 35's are functional.

And also, as much as I love track cars, just because your dd is a track rat doesn't necessarily mean it's functional/practical, either. Would you hand the keys to your mom and feel safe having her drive it? Lol I wouldn't if I had 35's and she didn't even know what that meant.

It can be functional or practical depending on who is driving it. It's all about knowing your vehicle. Some people can't drive a truck or chevy malibu as a daily driver and drive it meaning it is practical. Depends on the car/driver combination I think.

Don't forget that the 40 in a tire size is just a percentage of the width of the tire. Just because it's a 35 series tire doesn't mean it will ride like s*** or have less protection for the rim. As an example, I'll most likely go 265/35/18 for my sticky tires next summer. I'll have the same rolling diameter and sidewall height as the stock 225/45/18 though, so i'll have the same rim protection and theoretical ride qualities. I say theoretical because the new tires will have a stiffer sidewall that what i run at the moment.

Now, if you're stepping up in diameter and not width, the aspect ratio of the tire does have an impact on rim protection and ride. a 245/40/18 will have less sidewall than a 245/45/17 while still having a rolling diameter that is similar
