The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Haha, wow. My 626 is "lowered" and my pinch welds are ~5" I can just fit a pop can under it, and that's my DD.. It doesn't look slammed because of the body design. Was that my intent? Nope. Does it handle great? Um, yep.

There are a lot of guys out there that can't even fit their key standing up under their frame rails. They're pretty slammed. Putting a big lip on it so that it looks low =/= slammed. At least that's my take.

im pretty sure phens MSM is around 4-4.5" clearance at the pinch weld with stock suspension.... hahahaha

does that make his car slammed??? (lol2)

Even with Donk wheels too. Bout ******* time those clowns finally started putting up measurements.

I said in there how long ago that it's impossible to get a 3rd gen Protege "low"

For those that have seen my car in person would you believe my pinch welds are 5" to 5.5" off the ground?

^^^Your car was at MidOhio a few months ago running Hyperdrive, right? If so, yeah no way it looks like 5", especially when slammed pros are at 4.5"

So, that thread pisses me off too, so I went out and measured my stock suspension. I'm a newb, so I want to make sure I measured in the right spot: the frame where it "notches" just behind the front tire and just in front of the rear tire. (Levi should know--I also use this notch as my jacking point"

So I measured, 5.25" rear and 4 and 7/8" front---remember I have tiny tires, not stock size....but still.....

If I am wrong in my measurement, disregard this post and call me a moron! thanks

edit: i measured the lowest part, not the actual part that is notched out--that would be a lil taller, like adding 1/8 to the measurement or something..

does anyone know what epoxy is used for hood latches? i'm using bolts but would like some epoxy to make it hold that much better

Do we have any 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 owners in this group? I have been working with Jim Daniels on the ECU of the 2010 Speed 3 and he has cracked it!!

There is still more testing being done, Dyno, etc and once we have the final results we will be offering upgrades to all owners who want the upgrade. We are estimating an additional 70 WHP, minimum.

For those who do not know Jim, he was a Mazda Factory Driver, MX-5 Cup Champion and a World Challenge rookie of the Year for Tri-Point. He current coaches a few drivers, builds Spec Miataa, Ford Mustang Challenge cars and more.

He is extremely knowledgeable and has invested a great deoal of time and money in this project.

Is he doing any work on 1st gen's too??

have any of you actually read the thread in the last day or so now that the measurements are coming up... they arent as "slammed" as you would have thought... the average height on the pinch welds seems to be around 3.8-4" (front) 4.25-4.5" (rear) (excluding dub's miata that thing is SLAMMED)

i dunno about you guys but i wouldnt consider that "slammed".... i mean its low but not "slammed"

its all the illusion the guys use with lips and sideskirts....

you tell a vdub guy your pinchwelds are 4" from the ground and they will laugh in your face and ask if its a joke....

that is what i am saying

yup.

i think if they measured the subframe it would look better, since it seems that is lower, and still a structural part of the car.

but i think more than half of them are going to lose slammed creds.

they are talking about going to smaller wheels to be lower.

pretty soon they will all be 2'', but hell sunk to get that low! then we can make fun of them even more!

oh and this

This thread is turning very gay!

is ******* funny!

I find it hilarious that the slammed thread is falling apart now that measurements are finally being taken... Hahaha

i find it funny that the form over function people bothered to do measurements.

it is about the look.

hmm... i think i get it now. it is like measuring their penis sizes. (smallest wins!)

My father simply can't be my biological father...

-he came over Saturday to detail my moms VW Bug. He was going to wash it with water and Kerosene. Then I talked him into adding at least some car wash soap... Then he scrubbed the dirt and tar off the doors, fenders and quarter panels with the green course scrubber side of a dish sponge. I tried to fix the scratches with rubbing compound to no avail. Then he wanted to touch up the chips with a yellow paint pen, but insisted the color underneath be white and not the primer I offered. So we ran to Autozone for a white paint pen. Then he got sucked into the ricer aisle. I told him to get out of there. He was honestly looking at the stickers with flames coming from a fake vent and trying to find a "Mayhem" sticker. (He's still on this "Mayhem" kick). We got back to the house and instead of using the ball point end of the paint pen, he used the brush. So instead of a little chip there was a huge white glob. And the yellow paint pen was mostly dried up. So my mom got her car back worse than it was... Next time I'll have to supervise him working on any automobiles.

Now that I think about it, he used to assemble my bikes as a kid. I would cautiously ride them in the driveway until I got home then i would tighten all the nuts/bolts and re-thread the pedals so they weren't cross threaded. Guess that's when I first started wrenching on my whip when i was a little kid. Haha

If anyone knows who my real father is, please tell him I miss him. (wiggle)

Not really, the paint is pretty bad now. But he was crabby so said "f** it". Your face was priceless when he started scrubbing the paint with that sponge. Haha

phen, your dad explained what a Donk is to me on Sunday. and i was next to one getting on the highway last night, now i know they have a term. yeah, i'm slow ...
