The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

oh dang, i didn't know the BMW was ready to drive already, i thought it was a project car (Or is it still?)

Ya know... even tho the Bavaria is kinda slow, really soft suspension, and gets bad mileage... it's still a damn fun car to drive. It's just a different type of fun. Drove it to work today.

Fraulien Hilde looks lonely by herself....
LOL, are we talking about a car or a Bavarian woman?!

You know, a tad on the larger side, drinks a lot, "different" kind of fun?

Drove it home from the place where the delivery truck dropped it off. Running, driving, and everything works. Well... except the rear defroster, but there's a story behind that.

he has 2 bimmers now.

i think he still has the 2002.

I do, and I need to offload that thing too.

Hahahahaha. Too true man, too true.

welded???? someone welded your wheels to the hubs?? what the hell did you do to piss someone off the badly?? haha

So I attempted to swap wheels this morning. Find out, my winter wheels are ******* welded to the hubs. Any help?

wd-40 or pb blaster and kicking around the edge of the rim, or hitting it with a rubber hammer

Welded how much? Like tack welded, or they went around the whole circle?

Evan is our official donkey-kick wheel loosener guy, he can give you some tips

Evan doesn't play games, he skips right over the donkey punch and goes right for the kick!

I do, and I need to offroad that thing too.

That does sound like fun, I'd buy a helmet just to do that!

I'm telling you, this works every time. Stand with your back to the wheel and donkey kick the edge of the tire. It pops them loose every time.

On my dad's Rover they wouldn't budge so I used the handle to the jack to carefully pry them off between the wheel and suspension.

jackup the car, loosen the lugnuts and then put a 2x4 against the back of the wheel and smack the crap out of the 2x4 with aloarge hammer. or if you have a rubberized deadblow hammer do the same without the 2x4. I have to dothis on the speed 3 everytime I change wheels.

I have been working on the rx7 since mid ohio, I lost a dust cover off of my pass front hub and it thru grease all over the wheel so I removed the front brakes and am going to repack the wheel bearings and put new pads and grease seals on. I actually had to get the dust caps from mazdaspeed no local part stores had them. gotta love old cars.

That same thing happened to me the first time I tried removing my rear tires a few years ago. We had to use a rubber mallet to get them off. The secret I was told was to put a little grease between the wheel studs on the hub before mounting the wheels. I haven't had this issue since.

got the boost and wideband gauge in, just no completely wired up yet. Now to find the ignition wire and the instrument panal wire

Anybody interested in a Greddy turbo timer, brand new never installed, it can double as a lap timer as well? I have the installation instructions in Engrish too!

I just need the instructions.

Ah yes, the good ol donkey kick. Gets em every time. Oh we're talking about getting wheels off. I thought... Oh never mind.

we've had the "welded wheel" problem too ... not sure if it's the smartest thing to do, but after trying everything already mentioned above, we've jacked the car up, loosened the nuts, then dropped it down ~ in a controlled manner of course ~ once or twice and that's worked ... good luck!

When I've had the problem with stuck wheels I always smack the tire on the back side 180 degrees apart and that does it. Then clean up your hub and use some form of anti-seize on it. It won't take much and you shouldn't have any more problem (I use molybdenum disulfide assembly paste for that sort of thing).

I'll just PB Blast the hubs and have someone at work do it next week. I'll probably have to paint them or something as they are very rusty at the moment.

lazy.

got the throtle body on the intake mani so that's ready to go in. I'm gonna try to finish up the wiring first so I can easily zip tie the o2 sensor wires out of the way for the wideband. Deciding on weather or not to install my turbo timer, I think I'll save that for last cause it's not a needed item.

Anybody know where the wire to splice into the instrument panal is? I've got all sorts of wires from my alarm system to contend with as well.
