The next CX-5 Wish List. Go!

Higher center armrest, or armrest extension retrofit to 2013.
Mazda 3 infotainment firmware, with available retrofit to 2013.

That one has been 100% fixed for me with this : http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123838745-Korean-Console-Armrest-Pad-FINALLY-Arrived!

My list :

- Decent infotainment, with available Apple CarPlay interface
- More versatile seating (foldable front passenger seat, for instance)
- Go back to auto-climate system from CX-7, 2007-2009 Mazda3 (it just worked better)

MT-6 in Touring
(USA) Diesel!!!
make BI-Xenon HIDs standard option for touring and GT
Center the steering wheel, it feels offset from the driver seat.
Paddle shifters
More insulation in doors and cabin
Position tweeters in A-Pillars rather than in dash where you can direct the sound better, it's hard to hear any music when the windows are down
Under seat storage for rear seats
INFOTAINMENT - improve the speed, the interface, everything, it's wretched in respect to the competition
More hooks in the rear for cargo netting
Improve the interior lighting, including lighting on the lock and window buttons on all 4 doors.
Beef up the exhaust styling
Add options to color the wheels like I've heard EU having

I realize some of these are upgraded by the owner but if an owner doesn't have 19" wheels, all of the models look the same. I hope they get creative with this model and make the future tourings and GTs look outstanding. It's a good looking vehicle right off the bat but all of the models basically look the same. blah!

I've said waaaay to much :)

1. MAZDASPEED CX5-specific goodies. :)
2. A REAL HU that works.
3. Reclining rear seats. Easy---even a simple strap/pull system on seat to recline. My 03 Honda Element has these.

new horn.
turbo kit.
strut bar.
standard transmission in the gt 2.5 model
varrstoen es6 rims 19x8 5x114.3 40 offset.
cork sport axle back with burnt tips.

Bring back availability of 2.0L engine with AT transmission (with or without AWD).
Useable GPS
Fully optioned models available without getting stuck with unwanted sunroof

  • Less engine, road, and wind noise
  • Better speaker drivers for improved sound and wider range
  • Slightly wider seats and less aggressive bolsters

Would have liked the 2.5 with a stick too.

My 2 worth.. how about a glove compartment light? I don't think this will bankrupt Mazda. (plus a trunk light for the Mazda 6)!
Making stainless steel door sills guards standard on all models (preventing rust outs).
And for the GT..3 memory settings for the drivers seat. After all, this is the top of the line car! And front windshield tinting at the top, this has been standard on cars for years.
I agree also the hood needs to be a bit stronger, and outside mirrors 'shake' problem should have been fixed by now on all models.

Finally, free dealer oil changes for life,...$65 for a oil change is ridiculous when other companies offer them for free now! Customer satisfaction goes a long way.

Care to provide examples and are they really "free"?

Hyundai provides free oil changes for life (of course that price is figured into the price you pay for the car). But, I don' think a oil change should cost $65....seems rather high. My previous Honda Pilot and Accord was only $39. What makes the Mazda so high priced? My previous CX-5 Touring's first oil change was free, as will this one for my Grand Touring -from the dealer. The same dealer offers free oil changes for life on their used cars, why not the new?

Electronic oil-control........
Windows shut-down by remote when car locks........

Not in any order:

1) Back lit window & lock buttons; auto up/down on all windows; auto open/close sunroof
2) Better air flow or added back seat venting
3) Softer seats, hotter seat warming and air conditioned, memory settings
4) 220+ horsepower (fingers crossed for a future CX5 speed)
5) Reclining/adjustable back seats
6) Better infotainment head unit and/or rotating dial control
7) Less wind noise
8) Paddle shifters
9) Remote hatch open on key, able to unlock doors on hatch rather than just locking
10) Ability to lock doors when car left idle
11) Remote car starter that doesn't turn engine off when door opened

The CX-5 uses synthetic engine oil so no surprise to the higher cost.
If you feel that your dealer is charging too much, either learn how to do the oil change yourself or find another dealership/mechanic.

Sticking to the top 3....

More supportive / sportier seats
Better AWD system
Higher quality cabin ( better materials in door bins etc, arm rest, rear air com vents, internal night lighting).

Are they using Mazda super-moly oil in the CX-5 service? That would explain it!

My previous vehicle was a 2012 Honda CRV. It, like the CX-5 requires a special semi-synthetic oil which is more expensive than regular dino oil.

The last oil change I did included a cabin air filter and cost me $128.50 at a Honda dealer (on the road during a 10,000 mile trip). The one before that was $47.00.

I think already listed.

MT6 higher trim
Lights in glove box, center storage, window switches
rear center vent

other than that, no complaints, more stuff they add, cost and weight will go up, mileage goes down.

I think they did in my Touring last year, the GT goes in for first o/c in June. Being it was done at the dealer --most likely it was the synthetic listed in the owners manual, 0w-20 Castrol.
