The New Cobalt SS... thoughts?

:
2008 Mazda MX-5 5MT PRHT
So I was reading online about the new 2008 Cobalt SS. The plans are to make it a Turbo-charged 260 hp. Now, I am unaware but isn't this the first time an SS is Turbo? I mean, I know the Grand National was turbo but it wasn't technically an SS. I don't know if the Monte Carlo was a turbo?

In either case, do you think (like the GM R&D thinks) that this will sell more of them? Also, they are thinking for 2010, they will include a 4 door SS Turbo ver. (a la the Civic Si).

I have no clue if this is even news but I figure, I hardly come around these parts and am just wondering what people think.

And for the record..There was never a Turbo Monte Carlo.
And The GN is a Buick..Yes its a GM..but only the Chevy Badge carries the SS trim level.

There was Also A turbo TA..Very rare and actually a bit quicker than a GN...Utilzed the same motor..but tweaked a bit more...Very ,very rare.

I never said I was faster, I just said they are ugly. Even without the spoiler.

And everyone driving them thinks they are the s*** with the fastest car around

Thanks Beaver.

To everyone else...

Holy s***! Fly off the handle would ya? At least William answered my question. Someone please hurry and delete this thread before it goes it escalates further from chaos.

edit: for the record... I don't care if a Cobalt SS would run circles around me, cause I'd rip him from his horrid looking car and beat the s*** out of him... then steal it. Just kidding. Make love not war... except Iraq.

this new motor has already pushed that trans to max, so anymore power in that car and there gonna start poppin. I know a few SS supercharged guys and they have all told me the same thing anything more then 250whp and the trans starts to go.

I am sure GM addressed that.
They would not be very smart to have a car tuned to the power level where things are pushed right to the limit from the factory.
It just wouldn't make good business sense.
Period.

I actually think there was in the eighties. If I remember it was a real peach too. Let me see if memory serves me right....

well thats the main reason there are no factory stage kits for the new hobalt, they need to address the transamition first.

Not counting the oldie cars. . . GN or the TA . . . there was a turbo SS HHR. Not to mention the Solstice GXP and Saturn's equivalent.

And yes, there are stage kits for the SS/SC cobalts. . . my brother own's one and the stage 2 (bigger injectors, smaller pulley, reflash) bumps it up from 205 hp to 260. Or something like that.

Though, they handle like s***, and are ugly as sin, they can spank the hell out of us.
