The MSP kicks ass

Just thought I'd post some positive comments to help balance out the negative ones....

I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am with my MSP. Just today I put it up on ramps to look underneath to admire what Mazdaspeed and Mazda have done. (and to see what I'd need to change the oil and tranny fluid) There's a ton of great engineering under there.... The suspension, framing, and layout are great. It's going to be very easy to change the oil, tranny fluid, etc. Very serviceable. Also, very customizable.

The car looks very good (especially for an economy car with some plastic stuff on it) but, somehow it all works and looks like it was built that way from the beginning. The turbo is very smooth, works very well, and provides a very exciting driving experience. I love driving this car and look forward to every trip short or small.

The balance is there. The power matches the suspension capabilities. It's a great auto-x car and will surprise a few people off the line. I think upping the power a little won't hurt the balance much but, it'll start to be less fun somehow.

I've got 5,000 miles on it today and I am very happy with this car. It does more things right for me than any car I've driven under $26,000, including my '01 Miata....

Mazda got it right on this one. Thanks!

its been awhile since ive read any one saying something nice aobut there msp without mentioning any negatives.

changing the oil sucks.. the filter is in the worst place possible, and getting leverage on it is not easy. With that said, be very careful to not overtighten, or buy a filter wrench adapter, you may need it.
Other wise, youre right, the car is well engineered, but flawed in a few places(hesitation, clunk).
Could be faster, but thats the fun in wasting money on your car. :)

yeah man, I remember the first time I took my car in for an oil change to the local shop, they lifted it up on the lifts.. the looks on their face was priceless.... they were like, "is this some sort of race car"?? lol.. I said nope,, just a protege ;)

hey i dont have a problem with the msp. but i do agree about changing the oil. wtf was mazda thinking with the placement of the oil filter?

I had a Honda Civic before the MP3. I got in, turned the key drove from point a to b...that's it.

With the MP3, and even more now with the Speed.

I walk up to the car, size it up from bumper to bumper, always walk around it, smile, get in, smile, watch the stereo...smile, turn the key, drive the long way everywhere, listen to the turbo....SMILE

It's all good baby!

then clunk

clunk

thank god that's just about fixed too :)

Yep Yep Yep

I agree. It's just too much fun everyday in this car. I've only got 2500 km on it and I can't figure why I haven't got a *major* ticket yet. It's just too tempting to make the turbo whistle and blast away from the pack or take turns in ways that, shall we say, attract attention.

Well said. This car is an awesome package when you look at it as a whole. I know I'm probably saturated with marketing, but I really do feel more "connected" to the road in this car (not just the suspension either :p)

I LOVE MY MAZDASPEED!
*must now pay royalties to AGR* ;)

Cool... I didn't expect so many responses... It's great to hear there's a lot of people that really enjoy the MSP!

people have to remember too that a majority of people the look for these forums are looking for help of some sort, and that it is human nature to complain about the bad things in life, and not say anything about the good. Hence the reason for the complaints.

Go to any car forum, and it is mostly complaints.

Wow, you just took my exact response. I'm the same way. You can NEVER hear too much of the turbo :D

ive had my msp for exactly 2 weeks now and i've already put over a thousand miles on it...i just can't seem to stop driving...

i wasnt sure if i was really ever going to feel comfortable in the car since it's so different from what i'm used to...but the car is definitely growing on me...i like it more and more every time i drive it...

i think it's a great car, and so much fun to drive.
