the most retarded warranty work situation...

ok, i had to get some things fixed. my stereo has no bass, and it cut in the other day with some anemic bump. i was, "hey wtf? there is the bass!" thanks for the TSB headsup. i went to the service manager armed.

then i noticed a section of my windshield seal slipped into the car. it was laying on my dash. i did an early bird drop off, left the key and a note to go ahead and change my oil.

they called me at noon, and told me they couldnt replicate the stereo cutting in and out. (despite the TSB) therefore they couldnt fix anything. she actually said, "hopefully next time you bring it in for service it acts up so we can fix it". what are the odds of that? then she followed up, with, "your seal is supposed to be like that, we can show you on a car we have on the lot". i told her to leave things alone, change the oil, and i will be in later to make them feel dumb. i fumed about the stereo tho. i called her back and asked if they ever turned on the stereo, turned down the treble, and cranked up the bass. i got silence on the phone. similar to the stereo if you did what i just described. when i got to the car, the seal was fixed and the manager boss said my new stereo is on the way..i just read my reciept..they printed when they thought they had me. i will make them reprint it to illustrate the truth. seal bad, stereo on order.

this i not the dealership i bought the car from...

Take no s*** from idiots at the dealerships. I have always gone in armed and let them know right off what I EXPECT.

I've also had that experience with warranty/tsb work. I took my car in for the rattle from the windshield and there was a tsb out for it. They couldn't get it to replicate it (when I clearly told them it only did it when it was cool out (under 60 degrees) and first thing in the morning). Well, they called me in the afternoon and said they just got done looking at it and couldn't get it to do it. I dropped the darn thing off at 7:00 am and there wasn't any other cars ahead of me - WTF? They said they would not fix it unless they could get it to do it. I also told them I wanted them to do the suspension tsb and they said they do not do anything about tsb's unless you actually have a problem. I personally know the Service Manager and this is the dealership I bought the car from....Don't think I will take my car there at all for any further work.

whats this suspention TSB you talk of? (uhm)

I guess I have to give props to my dealer. I took the car in (with a copy of the TSB), and there were no issues. The service writer made a copy of the TSB, and two weeks or so later, I had a new audio system. In this case, as long as your VIN matches the range on the TSB and the software matches the ones on the "bad" list, they should not have to hear it fail.

Is the windshield rattle limited to only a specific range of VINs? We won't see temps below 60 until late October here.

The rear sway bar endlinks come loose insanely easy. They use locktite and solder the damn things in to make sure they don't budge again. I've had it done. You'll know you have it if you hear clunking from the rear when you drive over cracks or speed bumps.

yup the radio is only for 08.5 with the bose system. you'll know if your car does it when you adjust the volume from 34-35.

34-35?

holy s***.

I hope the radios are different on the 08.5...if I want to listen to music really loud in my 07 I turn it to 20 lol

the radios are completly different. the volume levels are more spread out and they also play mp3's. but this is only for the 08.5 gt models

dang.. you guys know everything. i got into my car, and almost peed laughing when i volumed up from 34 to 35. friggen so obvious. i do not have the bose system btw...but it is 08.5. i wish i could have given the serv tech that 34>35tip. priceless. technical expert my butt.

Sorry for the noob question guys, but does does some one happen to know what years the TSB suspension affects. Also there is a TSB for the 08 fronts can anyone shed some light on the what exactly takes place?

***yes I have searched.***

All the TSB's i've seen suspention wise after doing a little research was the rear suspention in 07-08 models and the faulty motor mount bolt which might be classified as suspention in some categories?

correct me if i am wrong.

If you have an 08.5 speed3 (like me :) ) then i do not believe you should worry about any TSB's accept for the radio and the bad idle that some people expirence. Although, if u do hear a clunking from the back, bring it in and get that read suspention checked b/c of the TSB announcements on the older cars.

ARRRGGGHHH!!!!

for the past few weeks i have just been happily driving around waiting for my new stereo to show up at the shop, and for the shop manager to call me in. no word? i gave them a friendly call yesterday. they had no idea they were to order my radio!!!! the shop manager clearly told me a radio was ordered for me when i picked my car up. his assistant, this lady..i had talked her through the process of making the bass come on/off. she did it. found the problem...

fast forward to today. i took time off of work to drive all the way down there to get to the shop before they closed. the lady told me to come back in, altho she remembered testing my radio and having it fail...so i come rolling in, ready to let him or her hear the radio test again. she said, "oh, the manager is gone, you will have to come in tomorrow" i asked "is the shop closed?",

"no"
"well, let me talk to another service tech".
"he is the only one"
"so the shop is closed?"
"no"
"what is the point of being open?"

the new car feeling is totally gone..when i get a hold of that fool i am going to unload. i will probably take it to the shop i bought the car from. i hate idiots.

i sent my cute wife in for the kill. she explained the (volume) 34 to 35 test, and got a new unit ordered. it is here, and will be installed monday.

car feels down on power, so i will have them peek into that too.
