The Moderately Low (Not Slammed) and Functional Thread

Wow, 2 days since a post! :O

Anyways, In the new year I plan on going to a wider rim/tyre combo - staying 18" but going up to 8" wide as apposed to my 18x7.5 +50 MS3 rims.

Now, I dont plan on tracking the car, and im not one to be stanced/slammed, so, what offset should I be looking for to stay within the guards, and also tyre sizes??

Cheers guys
Marc

afaik most ppl need a 3mm spacer with the rx8's to clear the strut. so i would say +47mm would be a good offset with an 18x8. +40mm would probably be the max before you get into SERIOUS fender work i would stick around +45 personally. 215/35/18 is your safest bet for tires. i would personally run a 225/40 but i'm sure it would require some big time fender rolling/pulling.

i've never heard about NEEDING spacers for RX8's. i needed spacers for my FD's, but that was to get the rear hub to seat correctly, not for strut clearance.

For the P5, to get RX8 wheels to fit, I had to throw on 3mm spacers on all 4 corners for strut clearance. I barely still rub in the back, but my fenders aren't rolled yet. Hopefully soon!

Thanks Goliat6288!

Aaah, the way a Miata should look... not scraping its belly.

It has to be functional for me, low, but functional. Although I will admit, I do like the way some of the slammed cars look, I'm just not willing to trade off that much handling performance for looks. Now my big-bodied Lexus, that's another story, it's not much of a performance car as far as handling goes so as long as it rode decent I would take better looks over a little bit of handling deficiency.

Damn that car looks good. Wish I had my car for the Florida Miata meet :(
What are you dropped on?

Thanks! ISC Top hats and NB coilovers.

It sounds like a Subaru :) i bought it used off of Funkalicious(spellcheck?) and it has a no resonator so it is very loud at 2000 to 4500 rpm and then above that it becomes quiet :P Very loud on the freeway, I stay around 65 to 70 for the sake of my ear drums.
