The Moderately Low (Not Slammed) and Functional Thread

Cant we all just get along? lol.. I thought the purpose of this thread was to NOT become like the slammed thread? Besides how can you be mad looking at this?? :p
It makes me mad that there's a smudge on the lens

j/k... nice P5!

16x8 +25 with a 205/50/16 Front and Rear. remember... P5's have a smaller rear quarter

then I stand corrected. I just never would have imagined the result would be that dramatic in the back. I was guessing you were closer to the +47 I'm running in the front (not necessarily the same, but I would NOT have guessed below +35), because it looks like the wheel face is in roughly the same spot, where as the rear looks dramatically different.

this.

205 width tire on an 8" wheel? Why not fill out the wheel with 225 or even 215? I'm on 215 without rubbing.

And I would drop kick that little doggie right in the face.

Uh oh... not something to say about Shae's little doggie picture...

do you see the back....lol if he put 225's on there he would have to cut the whole rear quarter out to fit them
they may fit in the front though

and i think its kinda funny that silver is getting called out...and he tracks his car, something most of the people here dont. lol (well i know lewis does, and i think magnum...but thats the only 2 off the top of my head)

There are more people that track their cars, me for one, SM76, and of course we'll be adding more next year. I think Phen will be coming out, once he has his new tranny installed......and also Kevin too.

I'll be making it out next year, for sure.

Oh, and I just talked to someone about picking up a set of KW V2's this winter. Suspension is gonna be rock hard, come next spring. (rockon)

You can still go outon track and have fun, In fact the Se region of NASA has a great program. You should check them out and just do a Hyperdrive, you can drive as fast as you comfortable driving. It is not racing, it is more about you learning how to drive per se and finding out your limits and the cars limits.

I want the Hyperdrive at Mid-Ohio to be all Protege's. Haha! I'm glad you're coming out, Steve. You won't believe how much fun it is and it's only $60.

Simon, my P5 is my daily driver too, and I don't have a back up bike. Heck, I think everyone in "Team Ohio" that ran Hyperdrive were driving their daily drivers. But let's be honest, your car isn't built for the track or the corners. :)

Originally I was looking for a 215/45, that would be the optimal size for this setup but I got a bangin deal on these star specs in 205/50 so I i figured I'd try them out, next will be 225/215 with a bit smaller sidewall.

It's SLIVER, not Silver...

Thanks!!!

205-50's are a good size. Healthy sidewall. I think the added sidewall deflection in the gripping pictures are what made them look streteched. 205-50's shouldn't look too stretched when sitting idle. I originally thought that was a bit on the narrow side for 8" wheels, but after doing some looking around, it's really not bad.

What kind of rim protection are you talking about? If you are dumb enough to curb your rims thats your fault.(Talking in general) I avoid imperfections in the road in my wifes accord as well. I don't know anyone who tries to hit every pothole in the road they see.

I'm not talking about curbs. I'm talking about the distance between the rim and the pavement. The outside edge of your rim is so close to the pavement that you have to be twitchy about avoiding imperfections, not just to protect your backside from the abuse, but also so as to not destroy the wheels. Not terribly functional.

I prefer tires that have a vertical component (perhaps you've heard of sidewalls?) as well as a horizontal. I like your rims, but they could have been an inch (or two? are those 18s or 19s?) smaller, and you could have run 45-series tires, which would have been a more functional size in terms of an appropriate balance between handling and rim protection/ride quality.

Yea they really aren't stretched they're just not bulging over the rim like a 225 on a 7" wheel.
