Yea, so I'm bored.
To break up to monotiny(sp?) of life here in PA, I decided to clean the outside of my protege...made her all pretty, on the outside at least...inside could use a vacuum. But it seems something has gotten on the drivers side quarter and side of the trunk...dunno what it is, but its not all to smooth...ill have to check when its light out...

And in some more interesting news, I'm headin back to CT tomorrow when I get out of school, having a real dinner and what not with the fam, then heading up to Wrentham to visit the girl. Perhaps I'll catch someone on good 'ole 95

That is all....the Nyquil is kicking in and im goin to bed.(poke)

uh-oh sounds like someone's robo-trippin'. Put on some DJ Krush, take another shot, and put on a cool screen saver. (poke)

^^^^

i have the day off. hanging out with my son. he is taking his AM nap giving me a little time to surf the net......

TGIF.

will be down in south windsor tomorrow you CT guys!

-R

robo-trip? nah....doesnt work well with me with nyquil...coricidin is the way to go.....
I mean, what?

haha. So this weekend, from when i got out of school friday, i drove up to Clinton, took me 6.5 HOURS, i hit every accident, and by time i got INTO new jersey, i was in rush hour...then comes wonderful manhattan. a few of you guys have seen my car...its not low, at all, in any sense. I WAS SCRAPING! I've driven both ways in manhattan/GWB before, but this was retarded...im glad everythings okay.

Sat. night, i drove out to hamden, to watch my friends band play...about 1.5 hours of driving there.
This morning(sunday) i drove up to Millis (right near your place, Chuyler) to watch my g/f do her eventing and help out at the barn and what not...that only took me 1 hour, cause it was early and i had coffee =) the ride home was 1.5 hours....i ate dinner with the rents, left a 4:30, and i just got to my apartment in Thorndale. adds up to about 5 hours, give or take 15 minutes

It took me 2 hours to get to 287 (i was smart this time, and went around NYC (glare) ) but once i was out of CT, it was a great ride.

so grand total driving hours spent this weekend = 15.5
guesstimate of mileage driven= 800ish (i havnt added it up yet...since i reset the trip when i get gas....but i did remember i hit 86000(on the cluster anyway:) ) right when i went through the GWB toll) and to there from my apartment is give or take 150 miles, right now i have 8665X so about 800.

Why would I do this?

cause its so farkin boring out here.
And I wanted to see my girl.
what can I say...I'm a sucker for a Brunette =D

Hey I feel ya man. Before I started settling down, I would drive from Torrington to Hartford for work, to north attleboro/mansfield to pick up some chicks, to Worcester to meet up with the rest of the crew at the hippy house, then to Springfield to hit the clubs, the drive the whole thing in reverse at 2am.
it's great because you can get out and see different places, and it makes it easier to not get lost, and you have a bunch of cool memories (most of the time)

I hear ya on seeing different places....so far this year alone, I've hit down as far as ocean city maryland, gone through delware....living in PA, driven way to much in NJ, and gone to englishtown raceway, been through manhattan too many times for my own good, and found the wonder of the Tappan Zee and garden state expressway. Lived in CT again for a month, hit up RI a few times, even helping out a fellow NEPOCer, was in MA for almost a year for school, and was visiting friends in Boston, Vermont, and New Hampshire.

Damn...im surprised my car has survived all this so far *knock on wood*

I dont mind, its definitley an experience.
But I definitley can't wait to somewhat settle down a bit, and start getting a paycheck again, thats actually livable off of =D

Instead of making a new topic for the same reason, I'll just bump this one up.
I havn't been around much latley, schools been takin over life right now, but thats more than okay with me. As you guys may know, I'm going to VW and trying to get a job somewhere in the CT/RI/MA area...focusing basically on getting as close to Boston as possible.
I've foudn out I'm 2nd in my class right now, and only by a few fractions of a point, and we started the placement process about a week ago.
Things looked grim...its the dead season for auto repair mostly...and most places never hire in the winter...especially from the program, because, well, its a decent financial risk.

Among the places I inquired about positions include VW of North Attleboro, Quirk, Gallery VW in Norwood, VW of Westborough, VW of Brookline Village, Boston VW, the VW in Natick, the VW in Auburn, and the one in Hanover....thats only for MA...RI had Wakefield, and CT had Montesi in North Haven, VW of West Hartford...one in Glastonbury...and just to fill the list i put in Stratford as well.

Well...I only got one hit on all of those.
Boston VW.
I call last week..service manager isn't there..I leave a few messages, but things didn't seem well
I call again on monday, leave another message, and a few minutes later, my phone's buzzing...and of course its him.

Lets just say it was the best phone call I've taken so far in this lifetime.
I told him who I was, and that I was going through the VW academy, and he offered me a job, and explained to me how he works, and what he's about, how the shop works, and what not. Guy seemed...well...real. i guess thats the only way to explain it.
He claims to be the busiest dealer in New England, even rivarling NYC, at least in Service+Repairs, and normally I would doubt this, except I know he's open from 7am till midnight monday through friday...and he claims to be busy the whole time, year round.

so now...to the exciting part. I'm heading there Friday to meet him and seal a deal if he's willing...he basically said I had a job..I just want to talk one on one and figure out details, you know.
I'll start out with the bad if I do get to work there
My hours will be 4-midnight
okay....now the good
Weekends off
Medical through Blue Cross Blue Shield
401k option after I'm there so long
$50/month for student loan payments(my monthly is only about $60-$75)
$1000 sign on bonus
and the nice one....
$18/hr 40 hours a week garunteed for at most 6 months
and the better part about that is, the whole time I'll be flatrate....but will always get a minimum of 40 hours for those 6 months
If I earn more, Its mine

hopefully all the reading didn't kill you.
so, what do you think...good offer or no?
Anyone know of any decently priced apartments for a 19y/o within 15 minutes of any of the subway lines?
cause guys....
I be movin to Boston

whoohoo! boston!

check boston.craigslist.org ... look at somerville, cambridge or arlington. probably better off finding some roommates at first.

i'll keep an eye out for openings in the mechanic shop here at UPS, pay is great, OT is great, pension is great.... plus you would be unionized..... it's not my type of job but it is great if you are a mechanic..... and can work on diesel..

trapped at my desk, wasting the day away. the hardest task I've had today was doing a 18page presentation in powerpoint.

oh and don't make me comment on why VW service departments are always so busy.. (glare) :D

Why do you think I want to fix them? I'll always have work =)
The sad thing is that I want one....
weird how that works.
Thanks for the suggestions for towns/areas
It seems as though the dealership is actually relocating in the very near future....Harvard wants to take over their whole little area, for a science center or something of the sort. Their temp shop will be 20 bays and from the floor plan looks f-in huge...and then they plan on having a permanent place by 2011...which as strange as it sounds to me, isn't all to far away

Well, looks like the birds found some berries.
then found out the berries don't sit well
because they s*** them all over my car this morning
seriously, its like they were attacking it
theres a Blue MP3 on one side, and a '06 Rabbit on the other....neither got hit...only mine
and on top of it, looks like my passenger side headlight is no longer sealed...as theres condensation all on the inside.

Any insight as to the best way of getting rid of this? I can see where its more than likley getting in, and I know I need to seal it again, ill go get something soon for it. But should I pull the lense off before I seal it again, or would turning on the headlights for a while to heat up and evaporate the condensation be good enough? or would that just keep it in there....Maybe I'll pull the headlight off and take out the bulbs and let it dry out in the apartment all weekend.

i love talking to myself. hah

Blue mp3? you should steal it :P

As for resealing the headlight, stick it in the oven at 180-200F for 10-15 minutes to soften up the glue, then pull the lens off, make sure there's the goopy stuff all around the edge, and squeeze it back together, making sure to get a good seal.
