i heard from my friend at mazda it was an issue at the factory, not a parts related or design issue. more that whoever was in charge of tightening those bolts on certain vehicles just .... didn't?

I know I didn't get a free rental for when my car whas in the shop, both times I had to pay out of pocket. If I have to leave my car tommorow I may just get crazy if I have to pay for another rental for a week.

Yeah - and I couldn't chime in and recommend our local dealer (Galpin). The first and last time my MSP will be in their hands was last week. I had them put the rear lip back on with the Mazda specific tape kit and:

1. They put it on crooked
2. They took my car for a 5 mile joyride

Alhambra's been ultra-good so far. They told me they had to check for modifications and to see if I'd struck anything. I called later and they said that I'd not struck anything and there were no modifications, so it was a warranty repair. He told me it'd take three to five days at first, and then said that the parts would arrive in three days and he'd try to get it done by Monday or Tuesday.

Overall, I'm very pleased....except for the whole 'engine falling out of my car' thing.

Not to be totally insensitive or anything but this is the 4th time i'm seeing this post with no proof to back it up. Its like a silly rumor that people want to perpetuate.

I believed it the first couple of times.. now its getting ridiculous.

If the motor mounts are not strong enough then wouldnt this be a problem on more than ONE vehicle ?

Oh yeah...when I got to the dealership, my car was being loaded off the truck. At least 8 or 9 people were oohing and ahhing at the incredible dropped engine. I said, 'Yeah, that's my car.'

Sorry for your trouble. I think all owners should look into the matter to get replacement mounts. Dont want to have everyones engine falling out of the compartment.

Nope...

But it's a performance car. I HAVE pushed it hard in the past.

It would help if they actually tightened and lock-tite-ed the damn mount bolts, no?
