MSP, The BLACKNESS!
Man what a difference a day makes.
I have been driving my car and adjusting my boost as well as just getting a good feel for the car after the flash and I must say WHOA!
If I dump the clutch from 2500RPM on from a dead stop the wheel hop is almost completely gone and this car will not move AT ALL in first or second gear. Damn it bounced off the rev limiter in 1st and second with no forward motion on a good sticky blacktop flat road. Man there is way more torque. I am at 10 PSI and it seems to run ok but this is no way assuming to be safe, unsafe or otherwise but it is damn cool.
On the road moving along at 40 MPH or so the transition from no boost to boost is transparent leading to a slow feel but in actuality you are moving faster. In essence you seem to always be in the boost.
Dead stops and roll ons way way faster which produces grin inducing non wheel hop tirespin :D
It's just the around town driving that feels slower because of the true linear power delivery. The whoosh bam feels good but this is definitely moving faster earlier on.
It looks as if Mazda really did get their s*** straight.
So cook that crow up homies Ill be having a double portion.

:D

Now that is the weird thing the boost is all over the map now.
No biggy really but only hits like 8-9 the falls to 5 in first, then 9-10 is second, and it lingers for a bit on 10ish before the 9PSI area is reached in third. So if we were to average it out it would probably all fall into the 8-9 PSI range depending on gear and throttle position.
It is a totally different car. It even feels different during downshifts. It used to go arrrummmm kind of a hard deceleration but now it's so smooth it can hardly count as engine braking.
So it is more civilized but I guess I am too much of a Celtic Half breed barbarian to appreciate it fully.

very good to hear yash :)

so overall at 10psi is it doing better than at 12 psi without the flash? I know you probably cant feel it near as much (as the car seems a little more stable).

I've got my MBC coming in this week..... 9psi look like it gonna be safe from your testing thus far?

Man I wish I knew but with the stock plugs I have and the driving I have done so far on 93 octane super it seems the same. No overt signs of problems and believe me I have been UBER paranoid about it. Yes I am no human knock sensor but if I got 12 PSI for 16,000+ miles in the upwards of 110 degree Texas weather all summer and even on two 1400 miles round trips I would hope 9-10 would be safe post flash.
But only Deon Warrwick can tell us for sure.
Heck Joe was the true pioneer of psycho boost he had his car all the way up to 21PSI on 116 octane!
I think 9 would be safe and several others are allready running 10PSI whom I have spoken with via PM'S.
Good luck.

12 PSI was way cool and in my mind it kind of felt faster but...
The true test will be with my Vericom it can tell me accurately what my 0-60 times are and the 1320's as well a host of other stuff. So I will remount it tonight. Using it I got the best 0-60 times usually when I launched in manner that was more controlled and felt slower. So the human experience doesn't necessarily translate into reality.

you can get that far into boost in first gear without spinning your tires?

I swear i my tires spineven if i ease into it, cause first gear goes through so fast anyways

No it was a straight up dump. Car was completely stationary in first and second. If you kept it floored it would just not move at all and of course you have that lovely exhuast. b****! :D :p :D

get those colder plugs man!

$8 total from sparkplugs.com

even without increased boost it made my idle ease up a bit

ahh Yash wtf? turn that b**** up to 12psi for a day and see the difference man.

I am getting there. You ever notice your not so "Discreet?"
heheheheh
You are now "Non-Discreet Speed" (rockon)

PKay,

How much colder do you need to go on the plugs. I'm still very VERY green at this and I'm wondering the benefit of a colder plug. Does it help against the dreaded k-word?

One step colder - NGK BKR7E/6097

Helps against detonation.

Okay......

So now; it appears everyone is happy with the ECU FLASH ?! I was wondering when I read Yashooa's first post regarding it. My dealer is supposed to be calling me back the first of the week to let me know if they have the 'new' Flash available.

I would take off your mbc and fpr. The fpr wont be needed anymore and you do not want the dealer to see the mbc unless you are pretty cool with them.
