the coolest cop you've been pulled over by

A lot of great stories!!

I've had my share of tickets, most of them completely fair save for my most recent ticket, and on those ocassions I was rightfully nailed, the cops appreciated honesty, one of them even registred the date intentionally wrong (in my county, if you pay the ticket within 24 hours you get a discount) so he gave me an extra day of discount.

The coolest one so far was one who waved me over for an illegal turn. The turn was signaled, but 8 times out of 10, people still made a turn there, cops included, the conversation went something like this:

him: Do you know why I waved you over, son?
me: for the turn?
him: yes, you can see clearly that it isnt allowed.
me: yes I know, but so many people ignore it, including a lot of cop cars.
him: mmm, yeah I know, but still that doesn't make it right.
him: I'll need you to set the proper example for the rest of us and not make that turn again please, have a nice day. *walks away*

I get into my car in the parking lot of the temecula mall, 5-0 parks behind me with his lights on. I roll down the window, haven't started the car yet.

Him: Did that exhaust come with the car?
Me: Yes sir
Him: I've seen Mazda 3's before and none of them have exhausts that big
Me: It's a Mazdaspeed pointing at the stitching on the seat.
Him: Can you please start it up for me?
I start the car
Him: Ok, have a nice day.

Lameness + waste of time

It was about 3 years ago. I was driving to wal-mart with my gf about 4 in the morning. Two of friend pull up next to me at the light and we take off and race down the street. The speed limit is 35 I'm doing 80. Cop is coming down the street the opposite way and by the he turns around I made a few turns. He still finds me and pulls me over. I pull in a parking lot and he say turn your car off, open the door and get out. Put your hand on your head and walk back wards to my voice. So I do and he pats me down and gets my wallet takes my license out.

Him: You know how fast you were going.
Me: 70 or 80
Him: The speed limit is 35, what's the rush.
Me: I was just being stupid.
Him: Your not the Billy I know. Are you his son.
Me: yes sir I am
Him: How is he doing. I haven't seen him in a while.
Me: Hes doing good.
Him: Tell him I said hi and slow down. He hands me my wallet back

I thought I was going to jail by the way he was acting at first.

LoL @ Sleeping.

One of our mutual friends, Jared, got pulled over by a cop who wrote him a ticket for a modified exhaust in his Speed3 - his car was stock. LOL He made the cop fix it though. hahaha

I was doing about 125 on the bike in a desolate part of Colorado The road was strait with a few corners coming up in the distance. Out in the distance I see a car coming my way that went into a corner but never came out.

I released the drag chute and was heavy on the brakes. I come towards the corner doing about 75 (65 posted) when he fires off his radar. He takes his time but does come in behind me and lights me up.

Got my info, helmet off, bike on the side stand, me still on it.

cop - I want you to know that I clocked you for 74 in a 65 and this will just be a warning

He goes back, runs all my stuff and comes back.

cop - Now I also want you to know that I pulled over here and waited just for you...I could tell from way back that you were hauling ASS. Now I have been honest with you and here is your warning. So..how fast were you going?

Now here I am basically in his custody and I am going to tell him how fast?? Negative, I smiled and said maybe around 85. He told me to watch out for the deer and have a nice day.

I always wonder why he pulled over and waited for me versus getting closer and pulling the radar trigger. Maybe he thought I would see a car coming way out and slow down. I would have been screwed if I never saw the car not come out of that corner. I would have slowed for the corner, but probably still would have been near a 100mph.

A few years ago I jumped behind the wheel of my friends car because he was the drunker of the two and we had to guide a friend back to the interstate. On our way back there was a guy in front of us who kept hitting his breaks and stopping short for no apparent reason. My friend told me to go around him (into the on-coming lane @ 1:30 am, no other cars on the road), so I did. There happen to be a cop parked with his headlights off on a side street where I went around the car. He throws his lights on and pulls me over.

cop: what's the rush
me: that guy in the (insert truck name here) was being an asshole and hitting his breaks for no reason, so I went around him.
cop: license and registration
me: uhh, sorry officer, but I don't have my wallet
friend: (while digging through his glove box) it's my car and I can't find my registration and I don't have my license either
cop: what are your names and lic #'s (back then our lic # was our ssn's)

he then walks back to his car and comes back 15 minutes later and gives me a warning and tells us to get back to where ever we were going. He ended up following us for a couple miles on the main road before getting off. I think I drove -5mph the speed limit. He also seemed to be a bit drunk/high or maybe just tired.

Only time I got pulled over was for squealing the tires in my '94 Jimmy going around a corner on an empty road.

Cops pulled out of a parking lot ahead because they'd heard me speeding. I never went over the limit, and they didn't have any proof, so I didn't get a ticket. The only annoying part was they kept the spotlight in my rearview mirror while they pulled me over, had to point it at the ceiling just so i could continue driving.

back in highschool before I had the msp I used to drive a (yea, I'll admit it) riced out '93 corolla...I wont get into details about that car other than it was completely stock under the hood, it was the autotragic, and it had a two tone paint job.......

so it was about twilight time and I was at a light waiting for it to turn green...well, my young and stupid self decided to take off from the light, even though it was probably not a smart area to be speeding in (on the border of town, but going away from town)....next thing I know the car behind me fires up the roof and pulls me over, freaking the sh*t out of me

so he starts asking me about the car, and tells me that I burned out coming from that light (it was not really possible to burn out in this car lol)...so I told the guy I was sorry and he asked what I had under the hood before he just let me go with a verbal warning

the coolest one wasnt coolest but he gave me ticket for doing 95 in 55 and the he lost it...never received nothing any leters from court and any points on my license:P I hope it will stay like that(sssh)

In almost 20 years of driving I've been pulled over twice and ticketed once. The guy that ticketed me seemed real nice and the guy that let me off with a warning acted like a jerk.
