This thread will be for the posting of miscellaneous ramblings as myself, Katie and Shawn go through the 2011 season running "The Spicey" MSP in G-stock.

The car will be modified and developed as the season progresses, but going into the Dixie NT this weekend, we've done the following:

  • Fat Cat bumpstops F&R
  • K&N panel filter
  • 17x7 +50 Kosei K1-TS wheels
  • Kumho V710's
  • Schroth Rallye 3 harness

We'll still be on the stock Tokico shocks (have ~60K miles on them) at Dixie but should hopefully have something else on the car in a couple months.

Danville warm-up 2-27-11

We have one warm-up event under our belts in the car and it was with the Triad Sports car Club in Danville, VA on 2/27.

We did some morning runs on some heavy rims and 3-4 year old V710's. Afternoon runs were on the Kosei wheels and new 225 V710's all around (we'll be using a 245 front/225 rear set-up for Dixie).

Shawn - 39.590

Katie - 41.375

Chike - 39.009

Fat Cat Bumpstops

Out of the limited things we've done to the car so far, these little guys have probably made the most noticeable difference.

Front - Fat Cat (47mm) vs Stock (54mm)

Rear - Fat Cat (58mm) vs Stock (54mm)

In order to be legal, we had to cut our rear Fat Cat bumpstops down, and per Shaikh's recommendation based on the car's motion ratios, we cut the rear bumpstops down by 7mm (to 51mm).

So what kinda difference did these bumpstops make? In long sweepers and/or fast transitions, instead of the car feeling "bouncy" or "jittery" when the car got into the stock bump stops, with the Fat Cat's the car felt like it was smoothly transitioning into a stiffer progressive spring making the car's behavior at "the limit" much more predictable. A+++!!!

very cool! Thx for sharing the build ideas.

I had no idea the car ever got on the bump stops from autoxing.

Who is Shaikh that you refer to?

I'm interested in your shock choice and have been keeping tabs on what Jason sorts out, but that's more work than I'm interested in!

When I have more time, I can share the few things I've tried.

Best of luck

Thanks Andrew. I have a good feeling about this season. We'll see how things go in Dixie...

I mean, it's no Prepared class car, but....

:p

Just kidding, I'm actually really excited to see what the MSP can do in an appropriate class.

Omg katya moxnix hows it going!!! Glad to see the spicy's still running good after my and Blake swapped the motor in all those years ago

Very cool, I am returning to WDCR events this year and will look for you guys on course. I assume you'll be there?

Good luck at the Regional/National level events!

I'm still waiting to see the final revisions/results of the ST classing scenarios for 2012 before I decide which Mazda I'll buy and build. I'll probably be in my BMW in ST for the time being.

Doing good. :) Bought a house with a 2 car garage, so we have a little more room for the race cars.

Yep, we'll be there. Shawn and I in red committee shirts and Chike will be keeping the care looking good. :)

Agreed. I think Jay's trophy in GS at Nats last year was a solid start. This car definitely has a solid shot in the new GS....

Speaking of: Congrats to Chike's 3rd place finish @ the Dixie Tour (and Shawn's 5th place). Not a bad start to the season :)

Thanks Andrew. This was just our third event in the car (and first on the 245/225 set-up), so there's plenty of development left in the car. Winning G-Stock driver (Clay M.) will be at the ATL tour so Shawn and I will have our re-match then...
