The 1999-2000 Protege Pic thread

99/00 to MS3 FTW! DO IT
YES!! trust the previous 99/00 owners!!!
Agreed, DO IT! Previous 99/00 owner here and loving the MS3! I'm just now getting used to driving conservatively and not using the turbo. I have a lead foot and the fuel consumption was kicking my ass at first. The fuel consumption is like night and day between the two.

Yeah, the gas mileage is what i'm highly keeping in mind. I don't see too many people with these big beefy engines driving like they own the road much more around here. lol.

where is ur 99/00 now?

traded in (sick)

when i first got the MS3 i went through a full tank of gas in 2 days (wow). I calmed down for a bit, now I have the intake and HKS ssqv and I cant seem to be able to keep my foot off the gas :)

ohh. Why trade in and not privately sold? I never understood why people trade in rather than sell. They usually give you way too little, or just plain rip you off when you trade in. Espcially if your car is modded.

just wait until you start seeing the popo's in the riew view mirror. you might slow down a little bit lol. Well at least if you lived in NJ with these cops.

I tried to sell privately for a while but as always you get the guys that like the car but say "I'll get a loan and call you back..." so i went to the dealer and they offered something, I counter-offered what I thought was right, after some negotiating, they agreed.

I do too, I'm not happy with the way it fits. I bought the flange used from another member, but it looks just like the ATP's.

what i did was I was i lined it up horizontally and then tighten the recirculation hose, that help the bov stay in place.

you can see what i did here:

ahh sounds like you've had a good experience, thats good. A LOT of people I know just went to trade in, and took whatever offer they dealer gave them. It amazes me how some people don't care that they're being ripped off 5K or so. lol Must be nice to have money like that I always think. Well, like all of us 99-00 owners, the 3, or MS3 is a perfect match for us. I feel as if the 3 has everything the protege lacked. especially the MS3. From owning my protege, and from reading, I see the trannies in them suck, whereas the mazda 3 tranny is built very well and is very strong, from what I have seen and heard. I have a friend with an 05 mazda3 S, and has driven like an asshole most of the time he had it, and raced, dumped clutch, etc, and the thing still drives perfectly.

Now I don't feel too bad, I went through a full tank in 2 days too, lol. My wife would have killed me if she knew, especially at $3.78/gal.

i drove 1000 before i ever went above 4500, except on test drive.. then 2000 i went above but still not hard, i have 6500 now and i really get into it from time to time..

I didn't use a break in period. I drove it hard some days right when I first got it and when I got tired of going to the gas pump every 3-4 days, I started driving conservatively. Not sure if that's a bad thing or not but I don't have any problems as of yet. Only 6mo old and have 12K miles on it already.

i drove her easy for the first 600 miles then I ran it to red line but not dogging the car, just gradual boosted up to 6000 rpms.
