(hand) None of those speakers will work in the target car (03 protege ES sedan)

I never said you couldn't have a balance sound, there is such thing as a gain control and level control - (2thumbs)

But I do understand what's going on out there after a recent trip to BB....

Have fun whatever you do.

to tell you the truth i never though this system will sound as good as it does now!

You have to keep something in mind about sound, really everyone does.

The human ear is both the best and the worst tool for judging sound quality.
The ear is unique in the world of audio test equipment in that it get more calibrated the more it is used and test. Everything else goes out of cailibration.

BY this I mean what I thought sounded "good" at 18 sounds like complete crap to me know.
As a professional audio-visual designer; over the last decade I have critically listened to a lot of audio from live bands, to stadium systems, auditoriums, courtrooms, lecture halls and of coarse cars. Over this time I have not only listen but I had to make a range of customers happy. In this I did as much looking at test equipment to see what was going wrong as all my ear could tell me is that something was.
As you do this, the ear gets a lot better and your brain starts to seek the ideals of sound these being accurate speaker response, life like reproduction of instruments, proper stereo imaging, and proper sound stage.

The BIG negative of this is that 10 years ago I could toss any system ain a car and as long as it was loud enough I loved it. Now, I dislike almost everything I hear for one reason or another.

To you 02ge my advise it that if you like this sound, don't worry about what others tell you...just enjoy it but for the love of god don't start really evaluating for any reason. Its a very long and expensive road once you do.
Sound in the end may be the ultimate example of "Ignorance is Bliss".

I know when i was younger i was the same way, the louder the better. I am pretty happy with the system. I wont start evaluating it just happend that turn out the way it did.
I've been down the expencive road before! young and stupid like you said "Ignorance is Bliss".

I placed a new alpine deck (new at $300) 4 polk audio 115k speakers (sale for $120 total) a mono 2kw amp, bypass box, and two 12" rockford p2 subs (sale for $350). Then all the sound proofing ($400ish dynomat {was lazy and paid someone to do} and $150 paint for rear spoiler removal) Now my car sounds damn near perfect.....

But it took a lot of effort to diminish the rattle. Dynomat was effective on the doors; but no noticeable improvement in the rear (had to take off spoiler, air vents, fasten rear bumper, Bondo holes, and paint) But now I love my MP5; near perfect sound with only 4 speakers (plus tweeters), 2 subs, a well rounded 2kw power supply, and a well tuned alpine deck (^:

Total cost=== roughly $1270 plus minor supplies and then you can add labor costs if you wish (I did most myself)

Honestly, I have spent probably $300 more on my system but this is the bones of it. Its really kinda depressing cause my original budget was $900. I kinda over shot the mark. Oh well, don't forget DON'T TURN UP THE BASS BOOST OR LOUDNESS on your systems. It can fry your subs.

You got me. It wasn't a freebie.
I paid for my own Christmas present from my brother. It was amp plus bandpass box.
Let me explain. I paid $75 for the amp, which was 4 channel, and the bandpass box. Since there were 2 12'' Sony Xplodes in there and I didn't like the sound I got rid of the box but kept the amp because I knew that I would be amping my door speakers soon. So while I said it was a freebie there really is no real monetary value I can put to it as it was a set and I gave back the box. If anything I can say it was $37.50.
As to someone else getting a system like mine. Good luck, both the HU and the subs are now back to regular prices so, no more.

how are you suposed to be able to test the db of the system when it haasnt even been placed in the vehicle? because something could easily be placed in the vehicle with allot of power and said to have the highest db

total ~$895

The coaxial speakers should drop right into the factory locations without too much trouble and they don't really need an extra amp to run them. I chose the Type R just cause it's a great sub lol and all the wood to build a sealed box for it would probably cost you around 30 dollars at home depot if you wanted to build one yourself.
