I finally got to test drive an 08 sport AT yesterday. What a cool car. I was not dissapointed overall. I did notice a tire shimmy. I have seen some posts before about this and was wondering if it was a "normal" occurance? This car had 3 miles on it. Is it a factory alignment issue?

Also the dealership quoted me on an 08 GT, with basically everything but Navi, which they said is a piece of poop. Anyone confirm that? Anyway they quoted me at $25300 out the door, with my "costco discount". Tax, title everything. Good deal or worth negotiating further?

Everything is DVD, cargo cover, rear bumper cover, Sirius and wheel locks.

Well start at invoice and work your way down. I got a sport AT with 6cd changer, pretty basic for me, think I paid 18 even for it + tax. Sticker was 19300 or a little more I think.

Well based on your information, it seems pretty decent. I may just ask them down to 24,900 to see if they will do it.

Unfortunately for me they have become massively popular here in Orlando.

I only have one color choice in a GT.

Well the trick is to not be in a hurry. They will ALWAYS take your money, they will do anything for a sale, so anything in between is part of the game. Ideally go towards the very end of the month (2-3 business days before the end of the month) they have to meet quotas and will not worry as much as lining their pockets as they are just padding their #'s. Personally I would go in at 23,900, be firm with it, say thats what I will pay, cant do more etc, and be ready to walk out, they will play the bluff game but leave your card and say, when you are willing to come down call me and ill be there to buy it. Sometimes by that night or the next day the manager will be calling you saying we can negotiate a better deal. Remember that you dont have to be the good guy, low ball and see where they come. Worst case scenario you go back to the dealership, give in and pay what they are asking but that should never be the case.

I basically gave you the rundown on how I bought my 2nd mazda5 used for 12 grand when they had 13500 on window. I had to walk out and leave my phone #, but its part of the game.

You can also make the dealers compete for the "lowest price" gets my business, hell, you can even lie as long as the price is within reason and say this mazda dealership says this # and if you can beat it Ill buy from you today.

lots of tricks.

Enjoy.

I paid a lot more for a 08' GT (Canadian model), AT, Leather, (no dvd, no sirus, with single CD player). Out of door is $32,100. Sale tax is 13% here, and included in the price is the rust proof and paint protection, winter matt, cargo cover ...

Hope that makes you feel better about your deal....

Ouch $32,100 is about right with AT , all the paint protection, extra accessories and tax.

I had paid $29,650 with leather option only. Sales tax is 5% here (alberta).

Hope you feel a bit better.

Yup...one of my co-workers bought an '08 MT a couple days ago, loaded with leather and paint protection and he paid approximately $31K CAD. That is steep.
He told me that he started to drive to the train station yesterday morning and loved the car so much he decided to drive all the way into work. He is thrilled with the car.

end of the month is *always* good time to buy cars..
dealer will do *anything* to sell your car including *huge* discount below invoice..(rockon)

+1
they will tell you it doesn't matter when you come in. But all dealerships want to make sales numbers, and if they haven't made them by the end of the month sometimes they would rather take a hit on the one car they sell to you rather than miss a sales number.

End of the month and model year changeover are great times to buy. It pays to shop as well, especially if you have competing dealers. My parents were shopping for a few months to get an '08 Prius. They were even on multiple waiting lists, but one dealer was offering a "Costco" discount from MSRP, even though the Prius (Prii?) are in demand and marked well up in many areas. They ended up at a different dealer that they had also been talking to and still get the price they wanted.

I got my '08 GT w/Sirius and autodimming mirror/compass/homelink for $22,500 "out the door".

I love my Navi! It's a whole lot better than the piece of poop in my 05 Mazda3. He may just be trying to downplay it since the vehicle doesn't have one in it.

To me, the option NOT to get is the $1200 DVD Player. On the aftermarket, you can pretty much get any DVD player you want for that kind of money. . . flip-down, headrest, mobile pc, you name it.
