2398 under Mazda's MSRP. Have to know how to intimidate a salesperson.

Sister was not as lucky, she was only able to negotiate My price + Sirrius (about 3 hours of negotiating)

to be fair, mine just came with the Wheel locks, and the cargo net. No sat, and no Nav. I felt the price was too high for the nav and sat when i already have on a system i like, and i do not like Sirrius that much.

got ne intimidation strategies? the one's i've dealt with seem to think they can sell this car damn close to list...

well, let them know that chevy would be happy to cut a deal on a cobalt SS, or dodge with a srt4. The mazda is NOT the only game in town. The salespeople, and the dealer management clearly know this. Also, dont put yourself in a situation where you let them know you have your heart set on a particular car. Don't let them get you going with a 4 square either Insist on clear negotations 1 stage at a time. Be clear about a final price on the new car itself. then negotiate a clear price on any trade in. Have clear facts with you walking in the door. Know the nada trade in price for your vehicle in your region. Not the low one either, the high one. Yours might be worth a tiny bit less, but they're going to come at you with the clapped out auction price. Don't let them break you down.

Oak Tree Mazda in San Jose, CA just added $4,995 premium to all MS3's. It's ridiculous. They claim to be the #1 MS3 dealer in the US. They let me test drive to day and I'm only 20! They said normally no test drives but since I drive a Mazda and we bought our Miata PRHT there last year, they made an exception.

There's one 25 miles away from here that's offering em at invoice now.

Call up Oak Tree and ask for the "internet sales department". The guys there are a higher caliber than the salesguys up front. Don't tell them you have talked to the other guys, just say you are price shopping. No guarantees you will get a better deal, but worth a try.

Yeah, talk to the internet sales person. I got a quote on a CWP MS3 GT about a month ago for very close to MSRP, out the door!

So I went on vacation in FL to visit the grandparents... And while I was down here I figured I'd hit the local Mazda dealership.

They were tons nicer than the dealerships up in Long Island... they had no problems letting me test drive it (this was the first time driving the MS3) and I must say the car lived up to my expectations and surpassed them....

so I spoke to the salespeople and no BS they gave me an offer of 22,700 which is better than what I was getting in NY, but still above invoice and not low enough for it 2 be worth if for me to drive back to NY...

when I was @ the dealership I was looking @ the window sticker and I saw that it had a regional price adjustment lol -- BS (interestingly enough the salesperson didn't even mention that)

I'm still hopeful of gettin 22k + tax, title, reg....

I thought the $4,995 premium days were long gone. I guess there's still dealers out there that don't want to move these cars. I got a quote over the phone, zero haggling on a CWP GT w/compass mirror and wheel locks for $23,800 (MSRP $25,140) and I'd bet if I went there in person I could get another $500 off.

blackp5, which dealer did you buy at and how was the experience? I'm in the Bay Area also and looking to buy one in the next few months.

Wow I had an incredible dealer/test drive experience with both the dealer that sold my wife and I the CX7 and recently when I test drove a MS3. 2 different dealers in 2 different states.

Both dealers encouraged me to "drive" the car pointing me down roads that would either challenge the cars handling or road manners.

The dealer I drove the MS3 at had a test route for their demo MS3. Without it I wouldn't be actually posting here, instead looking for a Subaru dealer that would actually let me drive the 08 STI. With just putting around in traffic I wouldn't ever know how this car can actually perform in real world conditions. Oh, and this particular Mazda dealer met my initial offer of invoice pricing, though I'm waiting to see the White GT model that they're expecting this month before making my final decision.

Follow up: Well, the dealer called me this past Weds (5/15) and said the white wasn't coming in for another month but they were getting in another black GT with Navi Friday. Went this morning (Sat) to see what they'd give me for my trade which was $3k over the book value, but I was only able to get them down to $26 for the MS3.

Anyways, again if it were not for the open test drive I would have never considered the MS3 and what a fantastic car!

What I traded in..

For this fresh off the truck (actually won't be ready until Monday)

My tax is actually 8.75% so even less than $22,850. Before TTL, I think it was 22,500. I can't remember the exact number. I got the car for less than MSRP out the door.

i got my 08 sport for invoice. :D

i filled an online credit app out the day i was going to the dealer so they could see i was serious. i was test driving within 5 minutes of arriving at the dealer.

ha! i've been to delray mazda. they are suppossidly the 2nd largest mazda dealer in the country? when i looked there about 2 months ago they had 20+ speeds on the lot! i dealt with an asshole sales guy and decided to just buy my car in KC instead.

Update:

I applied for a bunch of dealership quotes on KBB. So after getting numberous emails back I decided to start with calling the #1 volume mazda dealership in the country (located only about an hr nd 15 min away from me) figuring they could get me a decent deal, I spoke 2 the internet sales manager and the best I was able to get him at was $22,800 for the GT plus TTL, although when I asked about any additional fees he mentioned there would be a $299 documentation fee and a $199 window etching fee (some security crap). Which IMO brings the price up to 23,200 -- not bad, but still not gr8.

I then got a call from a dealership not too far from that one after sending them an e-mail. I was able to get them to 22,300 + TTL. So I'm definetely getting closer to my 22k goal -- although my only concern is that that dealership doesn't have the GT w/o nav in the color I want, so I'm a bit concerned if they will b able to get it for me. Hopefully I'll b drivin one of these bad boys pretty soon....

Funny. I spoke with the #1 volume dealer in the country the other day also (Wayne Mazda) and they quoted me invoice on the phone.

well invoice on a speed3 GT is about $23,250 -- when I spoke to the internet sales rep on the phone he quoted me @ 23,180 although I was able to get him down to 22,800.

I know the dealers around me are sitting on a number of pre 2008.5 cars right now. The 08.5 ones sell as fast as they come off the truck, while the pre mid year change cars have been sitting for how long? You could likely swing a better deal on the older inventory.....
